ALUMINUM
    #4382875 - 07/08/05 04:27 AM (18 years, 8 months ago)

I was wondering how safe it is to grow in aluminum container. Parhaps the aluminum dissolves somwhat with the mosture and then the shrooms absorb some of it. Any help would be good, I'd like my mind to be at rest about possibly growing shrooms with harmful toxins in them or not.

Thanks
Alex

Aluminum containers are flimsy & bend.  :smirk:
Myc enzymes can eat holes in them.

Best bet is cheap (Dollar store, WallMart, Target) $1 each nested 12 quart dish pan type trays. One layer of aluminum foil between the two, as below. That like $2 per set & lasts forever.

Hey, coda...

Most cheap .99 cent trays are clear or opaque. Aluminum foil between them blocks light and helps prevent side pinning which can go unnoticed and rot and could contam a bulk tray.

Take care n be safe....

ultralight, opaque means no light is able to pass through. Maybe you meant translucent? I know about the usage of foil to block light, but the trays pictured looked like they already blocked the light which led me to question the use of the foil. Thanks tho!

Most of the $1 each trays let some degree of light through. At the store hold a tray up towards any bright light. If you see any through the tray, double then up, with aluminum foil between the 2.

Bus Boy (opaque)trays are the bomb.

Smart & Final has that gray one for about $3.85 each.
