multiple jars 100%.... now what?
    #434491 - 10/23/01 07:02 PM (22 years, 5 months ago)

Okay,,,, so my llamas, with some help from my fish have managed to get about 12 colonized jars with brf/verm....... They are about 98% colonized...
So the real question is wether they birth the cakes or case them....

They know about the whole birthing thing, though any hints would be helpful.

But if casing is the way to go how do they go about casing them? Do they brake apart the cakes or what?
Please help all of my animal friends out. They are more than ready to go onto the next step if they could figure out the best way to go????????????? be good.,........

Okay...

Six cakes leave as they are. This way you can get some prints and shrooms without too much fear of losing the whole crop.

The other six, cut or break the cakes into one inch thick pieces. Lay these pieces on an inch deep layer of sterile dampened vermiculite (in whatever you are using to hold the casings... preferably an opaque container). You will probably be best off using two cakes per container. Try to fill all the gaps between cake parts with smaller cake parts, and try to keep the parts level. Then just whack a 1/2" 50/50 verm/peat damp casing layer over the top. You can blast this top layer in a microwave for 10 mins if you want to kill some bacteria before adding it, but if you do make sure it's cool when you apply it. Then, wrap the whole thing up with saran wrap/cling film and pop it somewhere warm until you start seeing mycelium poking through the top layer.

Obviously, check out some casing tek's but this is fundemantally all there is too it.

Good luck!

If you want to use the PF Tek and fruit from the cakes, wait untill the tiny abhorts start to apear in the jars... then birth them to the terarium.
