Autoclave Bags and the oven, no PC?
    #4340319 -

I was wondering, not only the least expensive/best thing to sterilize in my bags for a mushroom substrate, but also is there a way to heat them in the oven without the use of a pressure cooker, since I dont have one? I am thinking maybe ones with a selfhealing injector site and filter patches.

No moisture, steam or pressure in an oven & a bag will not hold pressure. You will end up with it cooked, not sterilized.

pressure cooker is the only way oven has been tryed and failed by many here. you can make a cheap myco bag with reynolds oven bags just use 2 bags one inside the other and get a plastic cap of of a soda bottle and drill out the middle to make a ring or use a soldering iron to melt the middle out pull the open top of the bag though the hole after you fill it and stuff the hole tight with polyester fiber (found at walmart or craft stores)that should hold the bag in place and for an injection port put a blob of high temp silicone(RTV from auto stores) anywhere around the middle of the bag and pc for 90mins if a pound or more of grain is used.

Woa, thats intense. Fuck it, I went out and bought a small 6 qt pressure cooker. 29.95 at wallyworld, but.... it only holds 2 qt jars at a time. I will invest in a big electric one when I get a spare $800.00
