ati x800 pro vrs x800xt

i wanted to know what card is better the x800 pro or the x800xt and what the going price should be.

i go with the x800xt, cause it has an extra x in it, which makes it better.

seriously, theirs no difference in high in cards. go for the cheaper one.

ATI cards all suck. Get an nvidia card. ATI drivers are always buggy and they don't support linux very well.

the xt runs at a faster core and memory frequency and will be a bit more expensive. however you should be able to overclock the pro to xt speeds. if you're not a hardcore gamer it really won't matter which one you get.

Hm. I have a Radeon 9800 pro, and it has worked flawlessly since I've got it. I run the hell out of it with max settings on HL2 and massive 3D renderings even with ray-tracing. It runs absolutely smoothly with both XpPro ans Server2k3. I have never encountered this "buggy"-ness that you claim.
I don't think you can reasonably back up your statement that "all ATI cards suck" with any actual evidence. Its probably just that you happen to have bought an NVidia, and now are biased since you own one.

Also, most people who don't know how to operate linux complain that "my [insert hardware here] doesn't work in linux, therefore linux and/or that hard ware sucks"

no. you suck. learn to use linux. my card runs just as good as it does in windows, if not better in linux.

In linux, an ATI card will only go about 60% as fast as a similarly-priced nvidia card, and that's a fact. I'm not a fanboy or anything, and to those who will only use Windows I say both brands are great. But nvidia simply has better linux drivers than ATI.

Well, anyway, since he doesnt use linux, he doesnt give a shit, so then...

I also say pro since it can probably OC to XT or even higher speeds.
XT's are usualy harder to OC as they are usualy just the PRO overclocked by the company.

i'll concur that nVidia does support linux better than ATI does, but that does still not justify "all ATI cards suck"
