WBS Cement!!

My kitten did her WBS jars, but she thinks that she clearly (somehow) screwed up on one because she noticed when innoculating all the grain in one jar is stuck together like cement and won't break up. 

She shook them well after PCing...so what do you think went wrong with that one jar?  Was that particular jar too wet or something?

She innoculated anyway...will mycelium grow in a jar with WBS stuck together like that?

Did she rinse them after soaking the wbs? maybe the stuff that collects at the bottom after soaking them. Maybe she scooped all that into 1 jar?

Yep, she rinsed all the grain good after the soak.  She's new to grains so this is sort of trial and error, I guess.  :tongue:  She did more jars today though...for practice.  :grin:

I wonder if that one jar will colonize though.

if your WBS has alot of cracked corn, or cracked wheat (as my most recent batch of crap did) the gluten fron the wheat, and the starch from the corn will make it gooeygummywbs-cement

my best suggestion is get a seed mix that is mostly millet. and rinse it REALLY REALLY REALLY well :smile:

i noticed after my hamster's rinse last night of wbs, that it looked like he found a bunch of big goober looking strands. i actually watched him pick them out with his "paws", and dispose down the drain. this stuff is nasty...  (he better watch out close to the drain. Might fall in!!!) :bye:
