Major UFO Breakthrough in Brazil
22-May-2005

AJ Gevaerd and Brazilian Air Force Official
The nation of Brazil is relaxing its policy of UFO secrecy. It is the first among a number of countries known to be considering the idea of abandoning the secrecy mandate that has been in place worldwide since the phenomenon first began to be publicly known nearly fifty years ago.

A.J. Gevaerd of the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers reports that a number of important files have just been released, including a folder containing documents from 1977 that cover dozens of cases of UFOs in the Amazon with over 100 pictures made during Operation Saucer, an official Brazilian military investigation that was carried out between September and December, 1977.

This change in policy means that one of the countries with the most extensive amount of UFO activity is now going to share its previously secret knowledge with the public. To read Mr. Gevaerd's statement, click on full story.

A. J. Gevaerd writes:

Friday, May 20, was a historic day for Ufology in Brazil and in the world as the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), for the very first time in its history, officially receives a committee of top UFO researchers to openly discuss sightings in the country and fully exam classified UFO documents in several military facilities in Brasilia, the Federal Capital.

By doing this very important step, Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has placed Brazil in a very short list of countries whose militaries acknowledge the Ufology as a serious activity and significative effort to fully understand the nature and origin of UFOs. ?We want to have all info on the subject, that is withheld by us for some decades, fully released to public, through the UFO community?, declared brigadier Telles Ribeiro, chief of Brazilian Air Force Communication Center.

The Brazilian Government, through the Brazilian Air Force, has finally decided to come forward and recognize the UFO research as a genuine activity as a direct result of the intense pressure made by the campaign UFOs: Freedom of Information Now, a movement started by the Brazilian UFO Magazine in April 2004. The campaign was launched by the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers (CBU), composed of 6 UFO civilian researchers: Claudeir Covo, Marco Petit, Rafael Cury, Reginaldo de Athayde, Fernando Ramalho and A. J. Gevaerd (Athayde was sick an replaced by new interim member veteran UFO researcher Roberto Affonso Back)

Details of the campaign both in Portuguese and in English can be consulted at: Ufo.com.br and UFO.com.br/secrecy.

The approach of the Brazilian military by the CBU committee started last February, ten months after the campaign begun, with a phone call from a Brazilian Air Force spokesman, major Antonio Lorenzo, and a formal invitation to a visit and a chat in some Air Force headquarters in Brasilia. Major Lorenzo fully recognized the UFO researchers? efforts in this field and provided a few details of what kind of reserved files and procedures the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has about the UFO Phenomena and its detection, recording and investigation in the country.

Two meeting between the civilian UFO researchers and the military took place last Friday, May 20, and firstly happened in the headquarters of the Integrated Center of Air Defense and Air Traffic Control (Centro Integrado de Defesa A?rea e Controle de Trafego A?reo, Cindacta), a very sensitive facility. During two hours, the researchers were given lectures of the procedures conducted at Cindacta and had the chance to visit air traffic control rooms and understand how UFOs could be detected by the Air Force personnel.

The second and most important meeting took place just after this one at the very reserved facilities of Brazilian Air Defense Command (Comando de Defesa Aerea Brasileiro, Comdabra), an even more sensitive installation that controls the entire air defense situation in the country and surrounding areas of Atlantic Ocean and South America. In this facility the UFO researchers were given full briefing of the top aspects of aerial defense of the country.

It was in this facility that its own commander, brigadier Atheneu Azambuja, admitted to the UFO researchers how concerned the Brazilian military are about the UFO phenomena. Azambuja also gave details of Comdabra procedures and openly admitted that the country has systematically detected and registered UFOs in the country ? labeled as ?H Traffic? ? since 1954. That wasn?t a surprise for the UFO researchers of the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers (CBU), but how this registering process took place was.

After detailed explanations of Comdabra activities, brigadier Atheneu Azambuja, for the first time in history, gave full access to the civilian UFO researchers to exam 3 different folders with classified UFO information, cases from specific dates of 1954, 1977 and 1986. The first case was an airplane pursuit of a UFO in the ocean shores of Paran? State.

The second file was much more important. In the folder containing the 1977 docs that could be examined by the UFO researchers were dozens of cases of UFOs in the Amazon with and amazing amount of over 100 pictures made during the so-called Operation Saucer, an official program of UFO investigation by the military that took place from September to December, 1977, and has been fully covered by specialized UFO press over the world.

The third case was the ?The Official Night of UFOs in Brazil?, a very significative group of events that happened in May 1986, when 21 objects of over 100 m in diameter jammed Brazilian air traffic control system over Rio de Janeiro, Sao Jose dos Campos and Sao Paulo, mainly, and several jets were sent to intercept ? without any success ? the intruders.

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) representatives at those meetings then fully admitted that Ufology is serious business and broadly recognized the activity of UFO research by the civilian UFO community. And also guaranteed that further steps are about to be taken to let the researchers to exam the entire military UFO files in a more comprehensive way. Plus, a committee of military and civilian UFO researchers was promised to start operating very soon, coordinated by the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers (CBU). This certainly means that we will start a new era in Ufology in Brazil and in South America. Very good things are about to happen as the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) command, the Brazilian Ministry of Defense and the Brazilian president Luis Inacio Lula da Silva receive the open letters and formal requests for opening for good the documents and start the mentioned committee, as presented to them by their spokesman.

Here in the U.S., Preston Dennett was drawn into the UFO field by the totally unforgettable UFO siege that friends from Topanga Canyon began to share with him in 1986. Coming up soon for subscribers: Preston Dennett will talk about this and his many other cases, and Unknowncountry.com subscribers get an ADDITIONAL $2.00 off our already incredible price with the coupon available in the Unknowncountry subscriber section!

This is the second time this is posted, so:

Alright, lets take a logical look at this post...

Major UFO Breakthrough in Brazil
AJ Gevaerd and Brazilian Air Force Official

This deliberately misleading title suggests that AJ Gevaerd is associated with the Brazilian military. The truth is that he's a UFOlogist who publishes a UFO-centric magazine in Brazil. He has absolutely nothing to do with the Brazilian Air Force or any other part of their military.

That his publication is not subject to pier review as required by the scientific method renders his published work biased pseudoscience.

A.J. Gevaerd of the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers

Sounds official, doesn't it? It's not. This is a civilian organization consisting of UFO proponents no more associated with the government or the military in Brazil than the Girl Scouts.

Details of the campaign both in Portuguese and in English can be consulted at: Ufo.com.br and UFO.com.br/secrecy.

Notice that only civilian UFO proponents' web sites say anything about this 'campaign'. No government or military sources are provided.

UFO.COM.BR is run by Gevaerd to push his magazine and sell assorted other UFO books, videos, coffee mugs, and such.

Friday, May 20, was a historic day for Ufology in Brazil and in the world as the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), for the very first time in its history, officially receives a committee

Translation: some guys went on a field trip to see a military base.

The approach of the Brazilian military by the CBU committee started last February

And it was the UFOlogists who asked to go see the base; it was not, as implied by the article, the military asking the UFOlogists to visit.

openly admitted that the country has systematically detected and registered UFOs in the country ? labeled as ?H Traffic? ? since 1954.

UFOs have been detected throughout the entire history of radar from the day it was invented. Many are eventually identified as flocks of birds, RF reflecting mylar helium balloons, lightning, and assorted other terrestrial phenomena. Some remain unidentified.

I keep saying this, but it never sinks in: Unidentified != Alien.

Unidentified means only that you don't know what it is. Nothing more.

Some of those unidentified objects are alien.

When its close enough so that you can see it is a machine, a metallic hovering craft with lights, it becomes identifiable.

They are not US spy planes. They are not even planes.

Does the US have the ability to teleport? I have watched a craft do exactly that.

Besides, they've been about ever since mankind could record what he thought.

For five years, from December 1903 to September 1908, two young bicycle mechanics from Ohio repeatedly claimed to have built a heavier than air flying machine and to have flown it successfully. But despite scores of public demonstrations, affidavits from local dignitaries, and photographs of themselves flying, the claims of Wilbur and Orville Wright were derided and dismissed as a hoax by Scientific American, the New York Herald, the US Army and most American scientists. Experts were so convinced, on purely scientific grounds, that heavier than air flight was impossible that they rejected the Wright brothers' claims without troubling to examine the evidence. It was not until President Theodore Roosevelt ordered public trials at Fort Myers in 1908 that the Wrights were able to prove conclusively their claim and the Army and scientific press were compelled to accept that their flying machine was a reality.

One way of explaining this odd reluctance to come to terms with the new, even when there is plenty of concrete evidence available, is to appeal to the natural human tendency not to believe things that sound impossible unless we see them with our own eyes -- a healthy skepticism. But there is a good deal more to this phenomenon than healthy skepticism. In Alternative Science you can read about dozens of cases of inventors who were ignored or even publicly ridiculed by their contemporaries, but whose inventions are today central to the modern world. You might imagine that such scientific intolerance was historical only and that in today's enlightened, educated world no scientist would behave in such an intolerant way.

More talk, no evidence.

the Wrights were able to prove conclusively their claim

The difference between UFOlogists and the Wrights is that the Wrights backed their words with proof.

I'd rather not see Aliens conclusively proven for a couple of centuries.

How many people, of the Judeo-Christian faith, would be dying to blow up the entire world when their little lie is exposed?

The Church managed to survive the flat-earth debacle, they will not survive proven second genesis.

Indeed. The Catholic Church only recently (1992) issued an encyclical apologizing to Galileo, and at long last, after 359 years, lifted the edict of Inquisition against him.

Wow... the Catholic Church really knows how to hold a grudge. Good thing they follow the teachings of Jesus and forgive others...

Yes, we don't believe in things that sound impossible... such as god(s), aliens, evil spirits, ghosts, etc... unless we see them first with our own eyes...

> Do you believe in radiowaves and microwaves?

Do you feel the heat from the Sun? Can you see light? Microwaves are another form of light. I can build an artificial eye that can see light and I can build an artificial eye that works the same way that can see Microwaves. The same goes for radiowaves. I can even build a device called a radio to listen to either microwaves or radiowaves. I understand maxwells equations (more or less) which describe these types of waves. So yes, I do "believe in" radiowaves and microwaves because I have experienced the effects of both of them directly and others have validated these the effects independently and repeatably.

Do I believe in god(s), aliens, evil spirts, ghosts, etc ... it would be better to say I don't dis-believe in them. I try to keep an open mind, but I have seen no evidence of their existance, nor has anybody else been able to independently and repeatably show the existance of any of these things. (This isn't entirely true; I have had some unexplainable experiences... but for the sake of this debate, lets pretend otherwise.)

The point of my post wasn't about what I believe, but rather a false it was about the statement made by the author claiming that people don't believe in something unless they can see (I prefer the word experience) it. I was offering examples that almost every single person I know beleive in even though there is absolutely no scientific evidence of their existance. Obviously the person being quoted was misleading us with his statement, or is a moron; either way I lost all respect for the article at that point.

Now I wanna hear about your unexplainable experiences!

Mine include seeing UFO's up close, ghosts, a disturbing incident of telepathy and a dead relative with information they couldn't of possibly known!

Jesus people think I'm whack.  As if I wanted any of this stuff to come to me FFS.  Most of it has either scared the shit out of me or made me feel really out of touch with the rest of the human race who doesn't believe me.  Thats the big fucking irony about all this shit.  I never wanted any of it to happen but it keeps shoving itself in my face, screaming 'theres far far more to this world than what people think'.

k,
when my grandad died, my nan had a 'dream'. She saw my dead grandfather at the foot of her bed. He told her to tell her daughter (my mother) that it is the carberettor (a specific car part) that has gone wrong and then vanished!

My mother awoke the next day for work and her car would not start. She took the car to the garage and whilst it was there my nan phoned her and told her of the dream. My mum was of even more shocked when the car came back from the garage because it was indeed the part that my grandfather mentioned that had gone wrong!

I think he was given a chance to give a quick message and he gave a message that proved, to us, life after death!

Every story like this that I've been able to personally press the claimants on turned out the prophesy came to light AFTER the fact and never before.

The Internet is full of stories of people who dreamed the events of 9/11, but not one single post on a dated forum has ever turned up.
