In this thread I want no debate, only ritual thrashes and self-mutilation that accompanies having blood that once ran through those who enslaved blacks and murdered indians. Post daily methods of torture and how you felt during this torture, and if you felt cleansed or not.

About 30 minutes ago I repeatedly beat my inner thigh with a twizzler until it began to bleed, I did this in solidarity of my black brethren.

I then poured salt into the wound to represent the continual and escalating punishment that was dealt to the american-indians throughout history. After 60 minutes of intense pain I felt close to the great spirit and was able to watch "True Life: I live a double life" on MTV with a calm satisifying demeanor.

Tomorrow I can't wait to continue my cleansing. Everyone post your experiences.

I threw myself down a flight of stairs during Black History Month. I feel like my part has been covered. Then I remembered, most likely, none of my ancestors stepped foot on American soil until the 60s.

Well im gonna cut parts of my body with a razor blade and pour lemon juice on it because white people enslaved blacks 200 years ago even though my great great great granddad was a lowely irish immigrant looking for opportunity in America and was conscripted to fight with the union army and died at the Battle Of Fair Oaks, Virginia leaving behind 12 children and a widow.

Luckily, I have no guilt. My ancestors didn't come to America until far after slavery had ended, so no burning of the testicles or self-castration for me. :smile:

Oh man, I've really got it coming. My family comes from a long line of plantation owners in Georgia. Three of them were governors of the state prior to the Civil War, and all fought for the Confederacy.

How come the Indians NEVER blame other warring Indian tribes for their condition? Indians were being slaughtered LONG BEFORE the white man arrived.

How come blacks NEVER blame their ancestors for selling them into slavery? Is only the purchaser guilty? The slave trade flourished in Africa LONG BEFORE the white man arrived.

Of course, history, facts and raw emotionalism make for strange bedfellows..

The U.S. government, utilizing similar concepts of conquest as those employed against the people of the southern states in the war against secession. Sherman's march to the sea and other such actions were harbingers of the impending war against the Native Americans.

General Custer got slaughtered, along with all his men. To say he's responsible for the demise of the Native Americans is to gave him way too much credit. It was they who caused his untimely demise.

True....but for someone to say that the Spanish decimated the N.A is somewhat distorted.
Lots of different European people helped in the destruction of the N.A lifestyle.

Since the Spanish aren't the ones living here now, America has to take responsibility for this crime, not Spain.

Just like the slavery issue.
Yes the Africans did the selling but America did the buying.
America did the beatings, hangings and the killings. If they were the "good christians" they claimed to be they would have treated their slaves like the bible tells them to.

  So because every country south of America is now free from Spanish colonialism...somehow we have to take the blame?  :confused:  Blame should be cast only where it is due.  America is responsible for natives death from 1776 to now... not before, and not in land we have never controlled.

Nope.  Europeans did the buying.  Buy the time America was independent in 1776 slaves were no longer imported.  Yes, blame is due for slavery, but I think abolishing it in less than 100 years with our bloodiest war ever is amazing.

Damn this thread sucks... I guess i don't understand it.

It starts with a racist concept (racial guilt) and then you have post after post of people pissing on the fate of minorities in their society.

Amazing how a matter of white racism can evoke a heartwarming response of white contempt for non-white minorities.

I shed my white guilt around the time I was 15. (which also happens to be the time I stopped going to church and started doing drugs)

Before then I thought the European and American culture were the worst, and I truly felt guilty for being a part of that.

I remember the first time I learned that native Americans actually waged war on each other... I was astonished, I was always taught that the natives were peace loving with a culture that lived in harmony with nature. Of course growing up in the southwest you get taught this, with yearly trips to native American museums and ruins.

When I became more independent, I realized that the sins of the white man were not exclusive to him. The reason we get such a bad wrap about our "sins" is that we (America and west Europe) are the only culture that actually judges our self and tries to right these wrongs.

Why is it America and Europe always get criticized for slavery, when our culture actually stopped it? There are still millions of slaves in the world, in Africa, middle east and Asia. Those cultures don't give a crap about "minorities" or "slavery".

This is what I believe to be perhaps the greatest aspect of western culture- the ability to right our own wrongs. While we have committed grave sins, America and Europe try to right the wrongs we have committed. (we dont always succeed but we try)
