does anyone have any expericance with psliocbye mexicana. Ive looked at the Tek for it in the growing section and recipe call for subtitution of soft grain rice. is this just plian white rice?
what other kinds of substrate does it like. How about birdseed , straw or rye berrys ? I understand it doesnt grow on dung in the wild, has any one tried using DB compost or other dung based substarte.?
Thanks in advance,

I've tried spawning dung with colonised ry grain. It produced a good amount of sclerotia, but no fruit.
Ryegrass seed works best for fruiting, in my experience.

We found that grass seed is a very good substrate to grow these species on.
For preparation:

110 grams of grass seed
180 ml of water

Combine and sterilise for one hour. Inoculate, and when the substrate is fully colonised case it with peat/lime/verm.

As with tampanensis the difference between substrains from a multispore germination is much bigger than that founf in cubensis. So i suggest making isolates and testing them, or making multispore cultures and clone some of the mushrooms.

Heim and R. Callieux fruited mexicana using compost as a medium, so probably the DB compost would work too.

Here are two pics (grown on grass seed):
