Casing a Terrarium

Ok, this is something I have never done, nore considered before, but I know people do it. I am going to grow some pan. cyans on birdseed soon, and then case. I have a ten gallon aquarium, and I want to case the whole thing, which means no perlite. I do not have a humidifier, and do not plan to get one. I want to know what all I need to do to case an entire terrarium. Anything specific I should know? I plan on just spreading out my colonized bird seed on a layer of vermiculite that covers the entire bottom of the aquarium, then casing with a layer of dung/compost/straw, waiting until the mycelium grows through that layer, then casing again and inducing pinning. I will spray and fan several times each day. How warm should it be? Is there any flaws with my plan?

Sounds interesting. Maybe try to put in an air hose from a fish tank bubbler to get some air exchange in there. Just place the tube near the bottom of the terrarium, just above the casing layer. Or maybe get one of those little plastic doohicky's that allow you to split one hose into like 5 and put that at the bottom to move the air around better.

And applying a layer of dung or anything like that on top of colonized substrate will invite contamination. Not a good plan to leave those types of materials exposed, even if you plan to cover with an inert casing layer. If you really want to stretch out the mycelia, take a chunk and run it through a bag of dung instead.
