Monsters and Babies -Wasted Nutrients?
    #427278 - 10/16/01 11:28 AM (23 years, 9 months ago)

I have a fairly potent strain of cubensis, and grew some HUGE mommas off compost. I had one that was about 7-8 inches tall, i accidently let cap expand, not checking on it enuff ( geez these mugs grow fast) and the cap was 2 -3 inches wide. Do you think letting it grow this big was just a waste of nutrients?
Does anyone know what strain is in the homestead kit. this is how i started last year, i still have the spore print though i havent had to open since the first time by keeping the strain going.

Never used the Homestead kit, so no help from me there. As far as wasted nutrients go, the myceila and the subsequent fruitbodies only use what is needed to prolierate. Of course, the more nutrient-rich/complete and abundant the source, the more they'll be able to uptake. But I don't think you are really wasting nutrients.
