leaving jars for a few days
    #425467 - 10/14/01 06:10 PM (23 years, 6 months ago)

the only jar that's worked out from my first attempt (got a bad batch of syringes, but psylociber's hookin' me up with replacements!!!) is maybe 75% colonized. It's been growing really fast. It's all coming from one germination site and it was at maybe 25% about four days ago. So it looks like it'll be around 100% by the end of the week. the problem is, i'm going away next weekend from saturday until tuesday (i know, terrible timing). if it's at 100% but with no in vitro pins on saturday, will i be okay leaving a fully colonized jar for four days before giving it a birthday on tuesday night? would it be better to birth the cake at 100% but with no in vitro pins and then leave it in a perlite humidified terrarium but with no fanning for the 3.5 days? thanks for your help!

You can leave it, it will be fine. I often give my jars an extra week with no light after 100% colonization inorder to insure that the inside of the cake is colonized.

you're probably better off leaving it in the jar.. i've read people saying to leave it in the jar about a week after 100% colonization anyway.. i guess so it colonizes through the inside of the cake.

PS. I posted this at the same time as phrozendata so i was unable to see what he said before i posted.. lol
