grass and leaves

Has anyone tryed using grass and leaves to grow shrooms on? just wondering if it really works.

Yes, it really works. But I wouldn't recommend it; it's a very nutrient-poor substrate and it takes FOREVER to colonize. I still have one grass/leaves pint jar from about two months ago which is just now almost fully colonized. I cased a 1/2 pint grass/leaves jar a few weeks ago and have been getting the occasional shroom from it, but they're all very small and skinny... better go with brown rice or rye if you want some actual yields
