Overlay?or 100%colonized

I cased with Coco fiber and the mycelia raced through it..it`s comletely covered with just little tiny spots of fiber peeking through. How do you tell the difference between overlay and 100% colonization? No pins yet at day 7 after casing. Am I just over-anxious?.. Thanks in advance

To initiate pinning just put it a terrarium with high humdity, give some sunlight(4+ hours), and fan 2 to 3 times a day.

overlay isnt full colonization. overlay is when the mycelial mat becomes dense and thick, and the myc. on top becomes harder and therefore unprodutive. nothing will grow from underneath the overlay (think of it like ice on a pond- nothing can get thru it from underneath). you shouldnt have full colonization when casing, since it can s easily lead to overlay... but until the myc. becomes matted and dense, its not really overlay. just looking at it, it looks different than a colonized layer... very bright white since its very thick (compared to "normal" colonization-) and touching it you can tell it doesnt "give" like mycelia does. not that you have to touch it...

standard knowledge: to initiate pinning, drop the humidity, increase fresh air exchange (getting rid of co2), drop the temps, and introduce to light cycle.

Here is a pic of overlay on coco... I deep scratched and it came right back. I am thinking I should just recase, but I have so many casings I will just let it go and see what happens
