Problem making mycelia syringes
    #423596 -

ok, so I got lots and lots of nice fuzzy white mycelia growing on agar. I scrape it up, but it in sterile dH2O, and stir and stir lots and lots. But it still stays in lumps and blocks the end of the needle when I try to suck it up (lol). Is it sufficient just to suck up the water and leave the blobs behind? If not, what do I do?

Many thankx,
IudexK

My mnkey has used little bits of STERILE broken glass in sterile jars to help break the mycelium up. Put the lid on and shake

The other method is to use a sterile pipette or syringee without needle. Carefully suck the mycelium up and down breaking it up that way. You really need a flow hood for that method though.

MonKey says try the little bits of broken glass, but remember that some of the glass may stay in the mycelium and in therefore in the substrate. Dont go eating old cakes is what hes trying to say I fink.....

Sorry for the ramblin

skip the syringe and just use the lumps of mycelium to innoc, sterilize a blade and cut it into pieces.
