Chewing ice

We've probably all heard the rumors that chewing ice is bad for your teeth and such, but does it really pose any harm? The thought that frozen water would be bad for a person's teeth almost seems like it has the making of an old wive's tale or urban legend.

I know in some people chronic ice chewing is indicative of an iron or mineral defiency, but that's a rather unrelated topic. I'm wondering if the act of chewing ice itself is bad for you at all?

It's hard on your teeth, I'd say. I lost a crown on my molar chewing ice...

Again, it's not necessarily an indicator of anemia, but chronic ice chewing can be a symptom in quite a few cases. If you chew on ice or odd, non-edible products chronically, you should get yourself checked out to make sure you don't have anemia or an iron deficiency.

My friend was chewing ice at six flags once and chipped the side of his molar. :X

now if you have a filling in your molar it could easily break down or even completely come out, depending on how long you had the filling and how well it was put in.

I remember hearing that chewing ice is a sign of sexual frustration... dunno how true that is!

also if you chew ice regularly it could damage your teeth by wearing them down, especially if you have softer teeth

Indeed, some people put an icecube in their mouth and then suck a guy off. It can be used to increase the pleasure of oral sex by rubbing the ice against his head and such.

You don't chew it though, not to my knowledge.
