casing with dung compost

i am gonna case with dung compost this time and was wondering how you guys layer your casing with dung. do you use a bottom layer? i boil the compost for 15 minutes and kept the "shit juice" to use in jars next time.. thanks all......

i only cased with dung once, i put about an inch on the bottom and about 1/5 inch on the top. i waited for myclium to start forming on the top and i put some more dung on the top forming mycilium. if that helps you.

My foaf says hes used it to rejuvanate brf an vem casings that quit producing just mixed sum in to it works good also he just mixes the substrate which is bird seed with the manure an tops with a sprinkleing of manure for the top works beautiful .Mew

15 minutes doesn't count as pasteurization. 2 hours at around 200 degrees does. I don't use a bottom layer, just a half inch on top.

Do you guys put anything else? Because isnt straight dung pretty open for contams? Do you guys think that casing with dung works better than with, say, peat moss and coco coir?
