casing dung required?
    #774689 - 07/24/02 09:50 PM (22 years, 5 months ago)

lo all. actually been around for a bit and have some experience, but just realized that I might be casing improperly. If you 'case' birdseed with manure, when the manure runs through should it be cased with 50/50+ or cocoa choir? I have just been using dung and letting it run through,.

50/50 works really well with dung. It holds moisture and alolws the top layer of the dung especially in the center to remain moist, keeping the substrate from only fruiting from the sides. bluhoney

Ya dung will fruit from the sides readily after the first flush if the substrate is not properly moistend

The casing layer needs to be moist
I wouldn`t suggest dunking dung casings.
I personally grow on large tubs, there's no way or reason to dunk.
I never have any issues with moisture in the substrate.
With dung I find the moisture is retained really well throughout the grow.
