Papaver Somni. Identification request.
    #4188445 - 05/17/05 09:13 PM (12 years, 14 days ago)

These particular pods have little holes going around the crown that allow the seeds to fall out almost like a salt shaker. I've never seen P.Somi pods with this.
I'm curious, because these pods DO contain alkaloids( I can tell from the tea) But it is not super potent, and I'm pretty sure they are high in TheBaine and Papaverine( or whatever causes nausea)

Sorry no picture, but I can say for sure that they aren't hens and chicks, otherwise I'm not sure.

If anyone knows what strain of P.S. has the holes near the crown for the seeds to escape, please let me know!

all pods of all poppies get holes at the top when mature.
INCLUDING p somniferum.
also the nauseating agent in PS is opium. opoids cause nausea.
paperavine and thebane are not things you want to take chances with, particularly the latter which is a cumilative poison and quite high in some poppy species.

if you can post pics i can tell you for sure but poppies arent a safe drug to be guessing at if youre nor positive

thank you for the answer.
The last poppies I had did NOT have holes near the crown( they were fully mature, too) and there were for SURE P.somniferum, and very potent at that, so I am not sure how accurate that description is.

I will work on a picture.
All I know is these pods cause some itches, and slight euphoria, but not near as much as the last ones. So, either they are really weak, or the wrong kind.
I'm slowly working my way up in dosage taking it slow and careful, so maybe with further investigation I will have a 'totally awesome' experience on the pods.
We will see.
