Raves are cool. Some ravers, mostly teen-agers I am assuming, get too into it with the clothes they wear, all the flourescent necklaces/candy everywhere. I think it's just funny. I had the best time at a Tiesto rave last year on X. Unbelievable.

I don't categorically dislike any particular group. What I dislike are people who try to define themselves by some notion of what it means to be a certain type of person, thus diluting their own personalities by trying to live up to some sort of vague ideal, and then they usually end up doing it half-heartedly.

Like all the trust fund hippies that crawl around NYC during the summer...kids who live in multi-million dollar brownstones and don't have to spend a cent of money on anything they want, but for the summer they just don't wash themselves or their clothes and walk around asking for money and being utter wastes of life. Fuck 'em.

thats what im saying...you can go to raves, they are fun, but why do you have to call yourself a 'raver', and wear all the clothes and advertise it. then you label yourself, and don't get pissed if other people label you as such and generalize. and its just plain stupid - why would you want people, like COPS, to look at you as a drug user? if i was using drugs, in the USA, i would dress like a '9-5 business man' - which is also a generalization btw. If you wanna make a statement or whatever thats fine, but you're gonna pay a price.

its like a christian person wearing a shirt that says their christian...why can't you just be a christian and not advertise...someone is just making money off you when you do that anyway.

and i guess when your parents are paying your bills, its easy to talk shit about '9-5ers'.

personally i'm not a 9-5er...but i know plenty a people who are. they love the stability, benefits, retirement, etc. - their kids do too (whether they realize it or not)

i was lucky that i found something i love to do, which is more of an art/labor - i've never worked in an office - i need high stimulation and a fast paced work environment where i actually have to think and challenge myself, some people like a low stress job where the same shit happens everyday... however, if i had kids id start to worry about they fact that i have no benefits, retirement plan, or anything like that, and maybe i'd want a low stress job so that i could concentrate on my kids, and didn't have to stay after if something went wrong.

after saying this, i should say that i don't 'dislike' or 'hate' the people who do this. i think they are just young (usually) people who still are trying to find out where they fit in, and are trying to be a part of some group - which is what most people do. most are good intentioned - nothing wrong with 'peace and love'. its just something that some people go through i guess.

I hate republicans. All of them.

I hate anyone involved with wal mart or with advertising. All of them.

I hate parents who shreik "What about the children" all the time, as if their having kids gives them any right to try and control my behavior or access to entertainment or media.

Come to think about it, I hate almost everyone.

Not fair man...TV is mainly mindless but it is a promising medium for the future if people start writing good programming. And advertising, as cheap as it feels and as mindfucking as it often is (such as linking happiness with cars and love with digital cameras), is an ancient art that has to make you smile now and then. A good, clever advertisement is always a refreshing thing. In my mind at least.

No. Advertising is people using psychology to create and reinforce peoples illusory views of the world, and people using psychology to create and reinforce insecurities in people, so they will spend money on products they think will eliminate those insecurities.

Even clever advertising is manipulative. Like those gecko commercials. Those are funny shit, I admit it, but the psychology phds at geico knows that by making fun of advertising they can target a market ignored by other advertisers, namely, people who hate manipulative advertising.

I would never in any way be associated with advertising because it would make me feel dirty, all I'm saying is that you can't just dismiss everyone associated with it as bad people. Certain people in marketing are passionate about their products (like the firm that handles Apple and Volkswagen) and try to sell you the PRODUCT not some emotion we really know is detached from it. I respect those types.
