Sometimes business doesn?t make sense
    #4184971 - 05/17/05 12:48 AM (18 years, 10 months ago)

A freind sends me some myco related things in a plastic jar. The jar content is neat, but I really love the jar.

It's thermo-plastic, is 120mm wide & holds 36 ounces.... with straight walled sides. It is perfect for liquid cultures, jumbo cakes or wbs/grain spawn.

This is a picture of it.

This is a picture of one & a glass quart jar after about 20 cycles through an AA Sterilizer on 2 hour runs @ 18 psi.

I bug the guy who sent the jar to me with multiple "where did it come from" questions. He told me it had cosmetics in it. Like a young hound dog chasing a raccoon, I track down the cosmetics company.

They tell me the jar manufactor's name. I contact them, feeling like I am getting somewhere.

Only to find out Minimum order is 50,000  :mad2:

SHIT..F#CK...#@^%$#@! (read expletives)

Well, ya can't win them all

maybe you can get a list of firms who they sell this jar to that might be interested in selling smaller quantities?

That picture reminds of some jars I was considering purchasing, but I wasn't sure if it was safe to PC Polypropylene or Styrene so I never made the buy. Anyway, here's a link to the one's I was considering:

i found a good wholesaler for these jars, the only thing was, they're just a little more expensive than glass, and can't stand the heat that glass can, so they can't touch the sides of the cooker without warping... not worth it, IMO

minimum purchase was $250 IIRC
