Do mexi-cubs usually grow little, long skinny bastards, or is there some environmental factor that is responsible for this type of growth? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I've been having the same prob. The 1st flush was good, now the mushies stems are the diameter of a coffee stirstick and the veil breaks @ about 2". I tried everything I could think of . Suggestions welcome.

The stems seem skinny in proportion to the caps, but the caps aren't that big, either. The best comparison I can think of is maybe a straw with a dime on the end of it. The stems are fairly straight-- they grow either up or out and don't curve until they contact something (perlite, another cake, etc.) The ones that have torn veils don't seem to open up very much-- they just keep growing in length for a day or two with not much significant cap growth. Any thoughts? I wondered if it was a CO2 problem, but they get fanned 3-5 times a day. I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have. Thanks

Most mexican strains are smaller than other cubensis strains hope this sheds some light on the situation.

They are my favorite cub, but again they usually grow smaller than all others...

Ok, thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I'll look into that moisture thing, McMan. Maybe casing would be the best option for this strain. Falstaff

yes, most Mexican strains do grow smaller then most cubs. From all my experiences with the mexi-cubs, on any grains they do produce small fruitbodies. BUT, they flush a lot of mushrooms in a small space and they tend to flush over and over and over. Getting 7 flushes from this strain is quite common. The only time I have ever seen them get big (comparable to most cubs average size) was on DB compost. And even with the few large ones that grew, there were a lot of skinny stemmed mushrooms. Its pretty much just a trait of this strain. But they do flush a lot of mushrooms. I'll be posting some new pics soon of these that just filled every inch of the container with mushrooms. Here is about the largest you will ever see this strain get.
