I've never been to a rave...but I'd love to go. I'm going to Cali this summer for a week...I intend on going to a few.

I like ravers emos and hippies.
I think they are all a bit misguided (ravers are the best of the bunch by a long shot), but I also think at least they feel something. Maybe they respond to their alienation in a cliched way, but at least they feel that alienation. A emo kid is a lot better then the kid who is glad to be part of a wasp family. A hippie is better then a 60s kid who didnt' smoke pot. Yeah these groups have some problems, but they are the best their generations offered.

Perhaps I should clarify my dislike by bumping it down to subgroups. When I say ravers, I mean candy kids who only listen to trance, when I say emo I guess I say it because a bunch of my favorite bands and people from the 90's who rocked back when there was decent rock'n'roll are all being labled emo, aaand,,,oh yes hippies. Well guess you would have to know me.

I know.
People who see the world how it is and drop out or cry about it, or create a culture with peace love understanding (unity?) and respect are really the people in the world most deserving of hate.
I know, we should put them in concentration camps and kill them so that our corporate friends can make money of the resultant reality tv shows on fox, like "what would a raver do to stay alive" or "lets give the emo kids something to cry about."
Jesus christ. When something annoys you, it's not indicative of a problem with that thing, instead, it's on oppritunity to learn something about yourself. What about yourself makes you respond in such a republican way to the message of peace and love?

I hate "ravers", too. I'd start going back to parties, if there weren't all these corny ass kids running about, mindlessly saying "PLUR" and hugging each other.
The rave scene was great a decade ago, but it turned into the lamest thing imaginable.

Do you hate those goth kids too? Iam not a goth but I go to alot of shows where goths are present. i just don't see the point in caking yourself in makeup to look like thousands of other people? I hate facial peircings- they look crap
Anyways- are you some 9-5 shmuck? I hate sad bastard business men people. I hate to see them get on the train every morning to commute. It is a life I am not sure is better than death, but no doubt I will have to do the same...

lol
i kinda feel the same way...but i don't hate them, sometimes i get annoyed and sound like i hate them, but i don't hate them. these people are just young. and when you first start realizing certain things, the first reaction is to look at them and 'hate'. but then you just look at kids like kids and not expect them to be adults. you're probably just more mature than most people your age.
when i was a kid i was into all that stuff, and i think when i grew up i took the good parts and left the bad parts behind...for the most part...so i don't see it as negative or whatever its just that kids do a lot of things when they're trying to find themselves. and their great targets for business men. especially upper middle class white kids - cause their parents give them money, they don't save cause they know they can always relly on their parents...so they spend spend spend. on t-shirts, stickers, pants, cds, drugs, parapheerrrrrnelia... like if your a hippy you gotta buy hippy clothes and spend on hippy things. if your a raver you gotta spend on that shit. consumerism.
and holidays (420), i love to celebrate them, but i see the business side too. business men love holidays, and i try not to be a pimpers paradise. and when i used to use drugs, it was more as a way of life. not a novelty or a party thing...although that was fine too, but it wasn't my attraction. i think in america, and the west...business men have commercialized everything, including drugs, and they create a drug 'culture' to sell things too. which devides the people further. when people wear 'hippy' clothes and define themselves as hippies, they label themselves and can expect people to label them too. but that label will never be accurate or capable of describing that person.
in some places, people have to define themselves as 'drug users' and 'non drug users'. both sides see those divisions.
I was just talking to a friend the other day, now you should know i have a jimi hendrix tapestry right in my living room (so im talking about myself too)... but i was saying. when you start a business, you decide who you want to be your client. and then jimi's publicist creates an image and a public identity for him that they will like. and then they buy the cds, shirts, tapestries, etc... jimi was the highest paid musician at his time. you think thats a coincidence? they have computer programs now, where you type in a name of a restaurant and it spits out facts like 18% of asian-americans age 18-28, in such and such area, will like that name.
its just the west...how many people, even people who use drugs, use the term 'crackhead' or 'heroin addict' as labels? and how many kids 18-22, will drink just one beer?
I think also, in places where drugs are abundant, and just a way of life, people see them differently.

I am a former raver. I love ravers (and most people that, as tomk pointed out, are extending boundaries of the body and mind - particularly, those of psychedelic movements - the 90s = MDMA), but I do think their music is boring and unoriginal as fuck.
I'd so much rather hear a drum circle than the same crappy trance beats over a system again and again. Cliches need to be broken for the rave to flourish again. The current rave scene is as cliche as can be.
Perhaps the acoustic rave is the future.
