I'm jealous. I've seen a few of his works in New York, hardly anything though. He is the type of artist you can only truly appreciate in person, due to the massive size of his later works.

I worked for a venue and saw Phil Lesh, it was decent, like the Allman Brothers.
The best part was the smoke we got from all the hippies, nothing like free weed.

Yup yup. There is a great documentary on his life out there. Chuck Close: A Portrait in Progress (1999). You should check it out. It shows his process of creating art.
