American or Inhabitant of America
    #4102674 -

For those in America...
Do you consider yourself to be an American or an Inhabitant of America?
An American being a person who embraces all the ideals of America(not necessarily the government or it's actions) and would be willing to fight and die for them. And an inhabitant being someone that is here because they can't afford to move or because America is a great place to make money.

And on a side, rank these in order of allegiance...
Country
Family
God
Money

That's fucked man, you're separating these up and then saying what each is..

Well let me tell you, I am an American, but I would never fight or die for my country. Nothing that is essentially notion comprised of arbitrarily drawn borders would ever be worth defending with my life, but I certainly consider myself American.

It's a shame that in the wake of George W. Bush and the religious right you have so many Americans saying they aren't American anymore.

Why not take America back, feel American on your own terms, instead of running away from the idea of being American?

I don't care for your interpretation of America so I'll just leave it at that... here's my (slightly modified) order from most to least important:

family/friends
God (Earth)
country (although this may fall into the friends/family and Earth category)
money

Fuck this list... it's too basic for me to describe my beliefs

by your standards, i am a little bit of both. Although i am extremely against our goverment and it's policies, i would still fight for our country. I do not believe what we are doing in other countries is right but i would never dodge a draft.

family
money
country
god

I would do whatever I could to dodge a draft, by hook or by crook.

I owe my life to two people, my mom and my dad. The idea of nationality is something that, to me, can't have too much importance in my life. It's too arbitrary.

So to be an American, one just has to live here?

How can America be taken back when we are a country full of people with no allegiance?
That is what got me thinking on this. Most of the poeple I talk to do not like the direction the country is headed in. But a good majority of these people also say they are not willing to fight for our country. I don't mean against another nation(if we are invaded and you don't fight you are a coward and that is that), but if there were ever an uprising would you fight then?

Forget my "definitions" then. What constitutes being an American to you all?

Having the freedom to tell you that "Boss Hogg Outlawz" is the single worst name for a musician ever. Second up: OG Ron C. Chamillionaire in a distant third.

You all are a strange bunch. What gets your panties in such a twist here? Is it that unreasonable to expect a populace that enjoyed the greatest freedoms and prosperity to be willing to fight for the ideals that got them there? Instead we live in a country filled with people with no allegiance except to whatever gets them the next dollar for the next porn subscription.

I ask again, what does it mean to be American then?

oh, and regarding invasion...

I'd fight to the death if some chinks start pushing
up on our shores, yellahs and sand niggers too.

even canadians.

I've always want to kill me some canadians.
