Have you seen Equilibrium?

At the center of this story is a "cleric" named John Preston; clerics are super-cops who wage a war on art and music, very much like the current War on Drugs. The clerics also enforce the mandatory consumption of "Prozium," an emotion dampening tranquilizer. It seems that years before, WWIII nearly wiped out civilization, so it was decided that the extreme emotions that drive conflict, and artistic stimulants to such emotion, must be eliminated--even at the price of making "sense offence" a capital crime.

The action is cool. The story is cool. Christian Bale and Sean Bean are cool. The script sucks, though.

If the action is cool and the story is cool, how could the script suck?

I explained my viewpoint incorrectly. What I meant to say is: This is a cool movie, but it has some weaksauce moments. One is when the kid seems like he is brainwashed, but he comes back to help Christian Bale's character. That was a useless and shitty attempt at drama. Why would he change his mind like that? It makes no sense. Another is the ending scene where Christian Bale is surrounded by all those men and they come at him 1 by 1 so that he can have a chance to kill them off in style. I dislike unrealistic action scenes like that. If I were one of those guys, I would rush him right away with all the other guys and stab him in the face. Goodbye 1337 cleric. =D

That's the only stuff I can remember right now.

the gun play nearly rivaled matrix but i also think that the script needed a little more work.

christian bale is still on of my fav actors

he has been ever since he was a little kid and i saw him in EMPIRE OF THE SUN
