Equilibrium is quite an awesome movie. The action in the end is by far the best I've seen in any movie.

My friend introduced this movie to me a long time ago. I wish they had more money to spend on this film. It was still really good though. i loved the music especially.

Fuck another thread that is 7+ years old.
The movie wasn't that good either. A decent time waster at best.

I don't really care myself, I just feel maybe a new thread should be started as the OP is probably long gone and it just feels weird to me.

Don't listen to the bitching. And you're right to point out that paradox. Well played, sir.

IMHO if you have something relevant to say, bumping an old thread is NOT a sin. And it IS better than starting a million new threads on the same topic. I can't stand forums where threads are automatically closed if OP isn't participating, or if it's over X-days/weeks/months old, or if it goes over x-posts or pages (usually a stupidly low number). or even worse-- if some bored, power-tripping waste of a life moderator arbitrarily decides the discussion doesn't need to remain open.
One of the best things about the shroomery, and the reason people such as myself come back here continually, daily, for eight fucking years, is the ability to carry on an intelligent conversation... even over the course of months, or years. Sometimes I see threads bumped which I remember from back when I started here.
And you're probably right that if you started a new thread some well-intentioned and/or smart-assed member, who knowns maybe even the exact same one, would bitch at you for not UTFSE. "Come on, ANOTHER thread about this!?!"
Again I say: Well played, sir.

And you're wrong on that count, too, IMHO. Equilibrium was an awesome movie. Yes, stylistically, especially in the action / fight sequences, it does borrow from The Matrix and similar films. And the dystopian big-brother vibe is reminiscent of 1984, with the drug bringing up notions of Brave New World, and the cultural aspect borrowing from Fahrenheit 451. All of this makes for a familiar feel-- an "I've been here before" kind of vibe. But I really like the way it's handled.
No, it's not my favorite film. But I was entertained enough to watch it more than once. If you like the kind of story I describe above (and aren't the kind of person who whines about "unoriginality" and understands that thematically 90% of stories borrow from each other and explore similar themes)... in other words, if you go into it without expectations and deciding just to be entertained-- you might like it.
That's my 27 cents.....
