He was grouchy when he was strung out on heroin, but a nice loving compassionate human being the rest of the time. Jerry brought a lot of light into this world, I miss him a lot. its not just the music, it is the family. thats what people dont get. Right on!

i love the dead but not to the point of this.chill out the guy was giving his opinion.

i dont see whats wrong with idolizing jerry so much.no other musician has worked so hard for what he loves and his fans the man deserves it.

He was just a man......he may have been grouchy sometimes...But....his music made me happy.......and because of the LSD, and the music, it made me who I am today 27 years later.

And who I'll be to the day I die.

They dont even jam out that much man.they do but its differnt they dont go all balls out like the dead or phish.they are talented though.

its just one style of music
i don't praise famous guitarists in the industry as being the best because frankly i've seen 12 year olds pull off more inspiring, jaw dropping playing then a lot of 'praised' guitarist musicians who are famous

playing notes is fine, but bieng able to make them up, and make them sound good on a consistant basis is what makes a musician good. anyone can learn to play the guitar, but to become one with the guitar is different. you dont just hear the dead, you feel it as well

that's one of the things i love about jerry's playing, he could make his guitar scream and sound really catchy, but he doesnt make it scream and yell, he plays real modest, like he's doing what he loves, not trying to entertain you with cheap tricks.

Maybe one day you will understand the Beauty that was and still is The Grateful Dead. I idolize Jerry and see no problem with it. He was one of the single greastest men in the world. As were many more people that I will not take time to name because you know who they are. You will never change my mind on this. I don't care what anyone says my mind will never be swayed on this. You have your opinions and so do I. You will probably never understand the way I do.

i dont think you get what i meant. you said they can jam out better than the dead. they cant because they're style is so different. in the traditional sense of jammed out improvisation the dead will blow them away.umphrey's songs have more of a classical music structure to them.

I think its hard to see what deadheads find so amazing about the Dead, if you havent seen them.

I'd recommend buying a DVD, and just watching them play.

The Dead is old and busted. When I watched them play at Roo last year it wasn't anything to "oooooh" or "aaaaaaah" about. And I know, I know, it's nothing like GD playing. But still, there's nothing spectacular about them. They're good.

I don't know, I've enjoyed a few UM shows in my day but it's nothing to get all worked up over for me. What ever though it's personal preference.

I think Primus can tear up more than Phish, the GD and all other jam bands combined.
