Anyone else have bad experiences with "deadheads?"

Hey everyone so every deadhead that I met possibly like 10 deadheads have been the biggest douches I ever met. Everyone of them has this self-righteous attitude, total dicks to everyone around them and just have an all around huge ego. These clearly arnt real deadheads but anyone else has bad experiences with them

i don't have a problem so much with dead heads, but i had a bunch of bad experiences with the friggin "tour kids" and the "rainbow" douches.
all they wanted was to make money hustling. they know nothing of peace and love.
but i'm pretty sure the people i met don't represent the whole crew.

What's your definition of a deadhead OP?
We used to have "deadhead night" down here every Thursday at the pier, and those were some of the coolest people I've met.
They shut it down because of all the people smoking weed on the pier

Well I guess hippies mostly cause they usually always wear grateful dead apperal but I've met some cool hippies but god damn I have had some rough experiences dealing with them

That applies to most hippies in my experience, not just deadheads.
Sure there are some nice ones out there, but most of them are self-righteous assholes, really can't stand being around them.

Meh, people are people. They could be deadheads who've had these intense psychedelic experiences that show them how important it is to love everyone, but putting that knowledge into practice every day is quite another story. I know in the late 90's/early 2000's when i was going to a lot of shows the scene got real grimy with people ODing on heroin at shows and festivals all the time and folks ripping people off...it was such a dramatic difference from the peace and love that was preached, but again: people are just people.

and
Ones that like to flaunt Jerry around like their heady prize.
I think you've just met a lot of the hypocritical assholes that follow the scene because they can find drugs.

Lol the younger dead heads for the most part couldn't name 10 grateful dead songs to save their life. Im talking all these guys in their 20's. They go to local rave, or travel to festivals and hustle non stop. Now a days most of these kids get the tats, hat pins and whole 9 yards, just to help sell their shit. Sad but true in my experiences..
And then you meet what I call real "heads", most are older, although there's exceptions. Usually have seen the dead live back in the day, and call each other "family, or fam" because they treat the people around them like so. Not to act like part of some statement or club. They usually dont make claims of any sort, but you can tell if their genuine, mostly because these real "deadheads" im talking about, are the most humble nice people you can meet.
The Grateful Dead unfortunately are just a statement and falsehood to help sell drugs as far as all the lot kids and hustlers go.
"Hey man I got that fire wow", .... "Is it legit?"... "of course man, Im with family!" "this is some of the best shit youll get made in America!" (shows off his grateful dead hat pins and apparel)
mean while hes selling some fool low quality acid at best he bought offline from somewhere in canada.

I hate meeting these guys. While there are true young dead heads out there that actually love the dead because of their music and not the scene (me being one of them in this minority), a lot of them are just their for the scene. I met a 19 year old kid at a party who was talking about touring with furthur and how he "earned" his wings, and how he sells at shows. Later he pulled a knife on a guy that was leaving the party
Later that night I was playing the deal from egypt '78, and I'm like, "this is one of my most favorite deals. Egypt was awesome." He didn't even know the song I was talking about or the historical show and just said yeah...yeah... (obviously you could tell he knew nothing about them)

Just like any scene or group of people, there are gonna be people with different attitudes. Any scene will have assholes, gay people, black people, white people, purple people, chicks, dudes, sober people, drug geeks, posers, real fans, bros and their hoes.
The common ground between most people of a certain scene is that they like the music and what the music has to offer. Some also just jump in the scene for the scene itself.
There are cool people out there who are in the whole Dead scene who are cool. You just gotta meet the right ones.
Also, with the jamband scene you cant let it get the better of you. Ive seen sober people who hop on tour and by the end of it, they are junkie heroin addicts. Some people know how to keep their head on straight and keep on keepin' on in the right direction. Some just fall into a downward spiral into oblivion.
