shouldn't the dalai lama be xtra healthy?
    #4099442 - 04/26/05 05:04 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

because that is what newagers say.
they say when you are happy and positive then you make your body healthy.
and let's say the dalai lama is a very happy person.
well then shouldn't he be really healthy and whatnot.
well he isn't.
he's just a regular 50 year old asian man
he's got wrinkles
he can't run a mile xtra quick.
i don't believe it.

Healthy doesn't matter if you can be happy despite your health conditions.

In Tantra it is said that the Teachers body is merley a reflection and has no real substance. Its appearance on this earth is entirely dependant upon the actions of the students who recieve teachings from the master. If the students break their sacred vows then the master's health depleats. Thats why everyone who had recieved teachings from the HH Dalia Lama did purification practices when "he" was unhealthy.

It's true that being happy and positive improves your health but that doesn't mean your body wont deteriorate or that you won't get sick. Your immune system will work more efficiently if you are not depressed, negative, nervous or worrying. There is more energy to be focused on being healthy rather than waisting it in unnecessary energy consuming states. There is nothing strange about this...

Do you have access to the Dalai Lama's medical records?

He appears to be in excellant condition for a man of his age. And most people his age do have wrinkles ya know?

Who I love is DeepSix Chopra, who looks ALL of his 59 years even after writing his book, "Ageless Body; Timeless Mind".

SixPak should have titled his book, "Endless Suckers; Empty Wallets".

Chopra, who looks ALL of his 59 years..

I disagree. I saw him on Larry King Live just last week and he appears to be in his early fifties at most to me. I'm surprised to hear he is fifty-nine. Note that I'm not claiming his relatively youthful appearance has anything to do with his mindset because I have no way of knowing one way or the other. And neither does anyone else for that matter.

Last month someone told me I look 38 not 49. Should I cash in because of good genetics? I practice the "drink and toke heavily, stay out late and eat junk food" regimen.

I think many people would agree with me about how relatively youthful Chopra looks. But the point is that neither you, nor I, or anyone have any way of knowing what impact his mental attitude has on his appearance or health! How would you go about measuring something like that and determining whether it was due to genetics, mental attitude, or frolicing in the forest every Thursday at midnight? We simply have no way of knowing how he would have looked without any of these things. Maybe if he had an identical twin who did not follow his teachings we could compare the two.

Bottom line: We just do not know one way or the other.

"I practice the "drink and toke heavily, stay out late and eat junk food" regimen."

You also get plenty of exercise through competitive sports...or so you say. This can make up for a mediocre diet.

Yes, I was just confused why he addressed that to me.

Evidently the Dalai Lama is using the herbs I mailed him.
