Uneven pinset. Need advice on harvesting.
    #4099191 - 04/26/05 03:52 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

I currently have crumbled B+ BRF cakes, cased with 50/50+, over 3 containers. My pin-set is unfortunately uneven, so some mushrooms are maturing much faster than others. I have one mushroom in particular that is 4 inches tall with a cap of 2 inches. The veil just broke today.

I will obviously be harvesting mushrooms at different times because of my uneven pin-set, so I have a few questions.

1. How long after the veil breaks do I pick them?
2. Does the time-frame for picking change if I'm going to print?
3. After I pick the mature mushrooms do I simply patch the area where I picked and wait for the next one to come?

I can't believe I'm actually going to be picking mushrooms by this weekend. This is awesome.

If you need a picture, let me know. Any help you folks can give would be awesome. You guys rock!

1. you pick them shortly after the veil breaks if you want to print them, you can allow them to bulk up for a little while if you don't want to print them.
2. yes see above answer
3. i think consensus is to patch.

Ok so I've been searching the forums and can't really find a topic that matches what I'm trying to ask so if one of you nice gentleman can help that would b great. So I have my first monotub ever fruiting right now but I have a cluster that started pinning way before the rest of the tub. Now I have a fully matured cluster that takes up about 20% of the surface and then the other 80% just now getting decent sized pins. Should I harvest the mature cluster and let the pins finish growing or just wait and harvest all at once?

Cool thanks man. I had found something yesterday saying harvest as they mature so I went ahead and did it. Now I should b able to harvest the rest in the next day or 2. Thanks for verifying it for me tho. Another question on harvesting tho. When I cut the fruits off the substrate it leaves the base of the fruit in the substrate. Should I gently take them out or leave them in there for the second flush?
