1 pint jars.. am i ok?

ok, this is my first attempt at growing and the only jars i could find are 1 pint. I inoculated a few days ago and i'm starting to see small growth on the sides. My question is.. will the growth cover the whole 1 pint jar... i only used about 1.5 CCs of spores / jar. Also.. can i just go along with these 1 pint jars as if they were 1/2 pint once i birth them? or should i case? any help would be awesome, thanks!!!!

your only real issue here as a first timer is colonization time, which with a light innoculation may be long enough to allow contams in and ravish your virgin substrates. otherwise your'e good to act as though they were smaller jars. crumbling them into a tray for tray culture, ( sometimes called casing, but is an improper use of the term) is something to hold off on until you have done cake method at least once.

I've always used 1 pint jars. And I've never had any contam issues when boiled properly. Like tchyted said your only real issue is colonization time. For cubensis (which is all I've ever grown) you probably won't see full colonization for over a month. What will happen is your growth will gradually slow down because of all the available oxygen being consumed and all the cO2 building-up. I found the use of filter disks speed up colonization significantly, as does inverting the jars after 50-75% of the cake is colonized. I have actually been meaning to move to 1/2 pint jars because of the redicously long colonization time compared to pint jars. As for whether you should case or not, you should, you will get higher yealds. And when I say "casing" I mean it in the shroomery-sense of the word.
