1 Pint jars?

Hello all......
A friend of a friend came across boxes of "wide mouth" 1 pint jars (golden harvest/mason brand) for only .99 cents a box! And he was wondering if these could be used either for rye grain casing tek or PF cake type tek..... Looked all over the boards but was unable to find anyone who used 1 pint jars.... I figured they would work for both but wanted to see if anyone had any experiences with 1 pinters.........

IMO, 1 pint jars are for more experienced growers... They are more easily contaminated. But a lot of people do it...

I have tried quart jars, 1/2 pint, & pint jars and I love my pint jars... They seem to colonize at the same rate as the half pints only you have double the substrate. You don't have to do anything different than normal like you have to do when you use quart jars. The only thing I don't like about the pint jars is that the cake is harder to get out than in 1/2 pints. You can get them out whole but it seems to take a whole lot more pounding on them. However if you are going to do a casing...it doesn't matter in the least bit.

Get them....they are great. Just make sure you use more innoculant to speed up the colonization time so you don't have more trouble with contams.

i want to try 1 pint jars on my next batch. i figured id fill it 3/4 with finch seed and shake it every few days. that should work

if one drinks too much from a bottle marked pioson, it is most certain to dissaprove one sooner or later.
