well im doing it right now, is it necessary to pasturize wood chips for out door beds? will it improve my chances of succes?

natural sterilisation by heat is achieved through making a big heap, and leaving it. Bacteria will start to ferment away and burn out most of the nastys while leaving the ' good bacteria' (sounds like a yoghurt advert!)...after a while..a few weeks??? it is good to use. You dont have to do this but I think it will improve your yeild.

your are thinking of composting....my chips were fresh (i think) so i think the heat helps to break down the natural fugisides in the wood, chips
