Terrarium setup...

Alright tell me what you think. Here is my newly built fully automated terrarium. I spent about $80 on everything. Materials: I'm still waiting on my Micron Filter disks to cover holes.
Outside View: On the left is my airpump with humidty/thermometer gauge sitting on top. The air pump and terrarium light are plugged into the 24hr timer. The humidity gauge gives me the room temperature and has an external wire which runs into the terrarium giving me the temp/humidy inside the terrarium.
Inside View: I have my main air line coming into a 3-way splitter. Two air lines come off of that and go to the top blowing air down. The third hose goes to the bottom under my wire cake/case holder into a half pint jar full of water and has an air stone on the end providing air and some humidity flowing up. There are two group of 5 C02 drain holes on each side of the terrarium. These will be covered with filter disks.
Sorry for the poor resolution pics my camera is out of date. I'd be interested to hear any suggestions. It is a 37 gallon container and I'm hoping I don't have any problems getting the humidity to stay in the 90-95% Rh range. I got some cakes colonizing right now so hopefully I'll have some shrooms growing in here in about two weeks.

Thanks. I put a lot of thought and combined a lot of ideas I got from other peoples setups on this board so thank you guys for posting your setups. About the light: Watch the light for what? Heat or causing a short by getting wet? I was concerned about the heat if it is on the same timer as my pump I am doing some testing this weekend to see wha the optimal setup will be. I may get a seperate timer and only have it come one twice a day for 30 minutes or so. There is a small hole on top of my terrarium above the electrical part of the light socket so there should be no condensation forming in there. I believe I am going to leave this uncovered.

Well I don't think you'll have any problems about wetness(is that a word...heh) Anyway the heat coming off the light will cause the water in the air to evaporate before it has a chance to hit the light. However im just conserned about wiring. Just so you don't get a short. That would suck!

One more thing, when the light is off, you might get some water on it...maybe alittle....maybe alot. But make sure you check that before it comes back on. I don't see it being a problem....but have you heard of MURPHY'S LAW ;)

Hadn't thought of the light evaporating the water out of the air... I'll definately have to do something different then what I had thought of for the light.

Let me know of the result's you get....you done a great job so far. Remember though...people before you were growing these with a min. of tools and materail with great results. So you don't have to over do it. Although the stuff you have seems just fine....can't hurt having the xtra stuff, it's always fun..hehe ;)

Looks like a good setup. A little on the expensive side but it looks like it will be worth it. Have fun with your new setup and may it bless you with many perfect shrooms.

in my opinion, you should have the air pump on 24-7 and the light on the timer only. other then that it seems like a pretty decent terrarium. are you sure that the light in there doesnt heat shit up??

Yeah I think it is going to heat it up a little but if I only put it on for 30-60 minutes twice a day it should be good for them to keep a high temp. My room temp is about 74. Good idea about the timer and just leaving the air on 24/7. I will probably just do that. It is much more important for good air exchange than light.

hey dude, don't want to bust your bubble, but i don't think that there thermometer/hydrometer functions the way you think. I beleive that that sensor on the end of the wire you got running into your chamber only tells temperature, and if it does register temp. and humidity you gotta tell us where you got it that would be the shit but i aint ever saw one like that !

I have seen the digital thermometer/ humidity gauge with the external sensor before. (I Think you have the same one Bluhoney uses). Please let me know where you got it. I have been told Walmart? Great set-up! I would suggest removing the lid, putting weather stripping along the lip and using a sheet of glass as a lid. This is what I have used for years and it works very well. This way you could have the light on the outside.

Yeah your right I was mistaken. The sensor does not register humidity. So I have now moved it inside my terrarium. I got the guage at Lowes. I checked two wal-marts, two Home depots, two ace stores and found no digital humidity guages.

Yep, the humidity gauge is on the display its self. The remote sensor just tells temp. It works really well in showing humidity and temps, and not to expensive. You can get them as mrshrums said at Lowes too. Thee also nice to use when your jars are colonizing as well to adjust temperature to the optimum growing degree. My friend loves hers.:)bluhoney

I would sugest useing an extremely small florecent light. They are expensive for what they are, but they hardly give out any heat. Ya might have to go to a full scall lighting store to find one. This might sound stupid, but I once discovered that one can get a regular 110 volt AC Christmas light bulb to light up very brightly with a 9 volt battery. Just an idea.
