i got some rust on the sides of my filter disks on the jars, so i took the lids off and tied with some shit, will rust kill my spores or any of that shit?

Nope, I normally do not use a vermiculite seal ( MM discs on the way) and it is common for old jar lids to drop a speck or two of rust into the substrate, it has never caused any contamination problems.
