wait till all the seeds are whie and covered. look closely and you will see the mycellium strands creeping thru and around it. about a day after the creeping reaches the very top and bottom corners of the jars you can birth them. shake them also, shake them now. but when you birth them if they are truly colonized then it should come out in 1 big chumk if you wait long enough, or it could fall into several pieces even if it is colonized. break it up about marble sized maybe a lil bigger to case it.

that layer at the bottom is like a waste basket. all the extra water and shit that the mycelium doesnt need goes down there. i dont know what soil conditioner is though, so good luck!!

it begins with an "m" and ends with an "ushroom"

i think schults conditioner would be alright down there. One piece of advise, im putting this into practice tonight- im going to cut 4 holes in the plastic tray that its in on all 4 sides to let out teh CO2. plan to make 4 small pencil sized holes right where teh substrate meets the casing, that way all teh heavy CO2 wil drain out but the substrate/casing will keep most (hopefiully) of the water in there. hey, it soundd good and il let you all knwo how it turns out.

can you use the boiling sterilization tek with the Penningtons stuff? Do you have to wash the Bird-Kote off?
