The Pope wasn't scared of dying. He knew he was going to and accepted it. I too did not have such strong feelings of sadness when he died, but don't you think it's a little trite to blame all the world problems on him? Catholicism aside, he did a lot for the world and i suggest you guys research a little before you start bashing someone who most people know little about. What they do know are the bad things, the media attention getters. But don't you think it is a bit harsh to say the pope is evil? He leads one of the worlds biggest religions. Most of those guys seem to be alirght. They may have different belief sets than you.

However, you guys are right on one point. One death is a tradgedy, a million deaths is a statistic. Just because someone is important, they automatically get more attention. Their life is held above others, which i think is wrong. Two of my friends from school died about 4 days ago. Like a day after the Pope. It just made me think of life as a whole, and how dying is just a part of life.

It doesn't matter if you cared or not when he died, but please look at the things he did during his life. Honestly, without bias

this guy was like a father to millions of people, so multiply the sadness that the family of a car accident victim feels by one million, and maybe you'll understand why it was relatively more of a tragedy.

And plus you can't remember a guy just based on the bad things he did, he did many more positive things than negative things in his life, he played a decisive role in the fall of the USSR, the end of cold war, and the reunificatoin of europe.

And one more thing, you can't blame one man for millions of believers. The pope isn't the reason why people are so hooked to chatolicism, you're all missing the point.

Karol J?zef Wojtyla was not "filthy rich" - he came from a poor background whose country was invaded by the Nazis. As the Pope, he was not "filthy rich" either - filthy rich means massive consumption and decadence and luxury - do you really think the Pope lived like Paris Hilton? Yes, the Church has money that is donated to them - most of the money is spent teaching students at the Seminaries or maintaining the structure that is the global Catholic church.

And I do hope you realize that the Vatican/Catholic Church do help poor people in 3rd world nations. But why do you expect them to "save" everyone? How is that even possible? How have you helped those who are hungry?

Why do you believe the Pope "was closer to God"? What exactly does that mean? The Pope was an authority figure for religious disputes and doctrine. He was the head of the Church - not some Jesus incarnate.

What I am getting at is who the fuck are you? You preach "revolution" and a "new age" and all that - but when it gets down to it, you're full of hatred just like some maladjusted teenager . You should have love in your heart...even if you disagree with the Church. I cannot take your rhetoric seriously if hatred is the end result of your practice and beliefs.

Hmm did I strike a nerve?
I have plenty of love in my heart.. and yes, some anger too. Especially towards the Church, and I have my reasons. But I don't want to get into a religious argument with anyone. Have I helped anyone who was hungry? You bet your ass I have, and I'm poor, and usually hungry myself. I don't expect them to "save" everyone. But I hope you do realize that there is enough food on Earth to feed everyone, but everyone is not being fed. My dissent comes from the fact that most catholics revere the pope like he is god himself, and the whole of Catholicism works under the principle that the church is the "middle man" between the average joe and god. I never saw much love under a catholic doctrine.. I saw a lot of misogyny, holier-than-thou ism, repressed sexuality, fear and bigotry. If the pope is the head of that church, then he wasn't doing a very good job. But again, I don't want to get into a religious argument with anyone...I have my opinions, but I mean no harm. I only made this post because I was puzzled why so many people were so distressed that the pope died. Peace.

I have heard MANY people bashing the Pope and calling him "evil". Those comments come from ignorance.

I have NO love for the "christian religion" NONE....but the Pope did MANY good things and I think most people get off on bashing him in place of his religion.
