can i entirely scape off the vermiculite air protection layer before birthing

thier is a possibility that i might not be able to get my cakes out in one peice, if i should scrape of the layer of verm on top, would it damage anything.

No, won't hurt a thing. I always scrape it off, dunk and roll and then double end case. Good Luck and congrats on making it this far.

if i used a top layer of verm i would def. scrape it off after birth.

The top layer of vermiculite on a pf cake is used just as a contamination barrier during colonization of the jars. Once the jars are fully colonized with myc you are more unlikely to get a contamination.

if you can't get them out in one piece, you should look into casing if you haven't already.
