i liked Limewire but i got rid of that because of the spyware.i am looking for a free one.not looking to pay right now.

Lots.
eDonkey, eMule, BitTorrent and WinMX are just a few. Just be sure to do the advanced install for eDonkey and uncheck the add-on apps (you should do this just to make sure when installing anything free).
also, check out sourceforge.net for all kinds of opensource goodies. Almost all my apps come from there. Free and no spy/adware. Woohah.

and bittorrent is what you want.
forget kazaa, forget winmx (eww).

P2P sucks ass, it's the most risky to use plus like you said all the spyware.
Exeem is a new one from the creators of Suprnova but it still kinda sucks, why not just stick with Bittorrent?

because bittorrent sucks for music. soulseek isn't any more risky than bittorrent and infact bittorrent may be more risky as you can't control who downloads from you (and therefore has you ip). but yeah all the p2p apps like kazaa, limewire, ares ect. suck, you do have the option to not share though, so again it would be less risky than bt. those networks are riddled with corrupt files tho, and if you share i agree it way more risky than bt.

I've had really good luck with BT... I like to check whole albums though...it's not as good for looking for singles, especially when people start doing stupid shit like password protected zip files.

I use shareaza for stuff I cant find on web pages (i.e. cracked programs). No spyware, It's pretty handy.
I have dial up though so I don't use it often because it takes ages.
