there are other slsk builds out there. When I used soulseek (now use nicotine - soulseek for linux) I really liked 154testj and 154test4. They are more stable and provide better search options (in room searching for example)

I personally am on list-only share - I got tired of random people queing up 4 albums at a time and not sharing a damn thing themselves. Fuck leeches. Plus, list-only mode is much more secure. If I download from someone, they are automatically put on my list. If someone wants to be listed, I browse their files first and make sure they are actually sharing (plenty of fake shares). More and more people are moving in this direction.

Heh I'm pretty sure you told me all about soulseek and the beta versions too.

And yes, protowall is key, but I don't use windows anymore, and I'm still looking for an alternative before I start filesharing again. I dont quite understand how to set up iptables, and I haven't found any other program to do what I did with protowall.

yeah, there arent many options for linux. I havent found anything as well. In the meantime, I'm just sharing non-RIAA music (most of the music I like is indepenent anyways) with trusted or seemingly trustworthy individuals. I am also considering reformatting my harddrive, re-installing windows, partitioning it & dual-boot linux - the win partition would be used just for gaming and file-sharing.

nicotine is good but it's not as good as the soulseek test clients.

I've had iffy experiences with dual boots.....seem to be unstable.

Possibly incompotence (wasn't me, just used it) but it may be that windows tries to boot shit in the background.

That's a straight guess tho.
