P2P download programs
    #3267415 -

I just got over a fairly serious spyware issue and I'd rather not go through it again. I do, however, want to continue stealing music off the internet for my own personal use.

What is the best P2P program to use for downloading music and occasional videos? I was told that WinMX is good, but then someone else was all "WHOA! That's just as bad as Kazaa!"

Soooo, maybe SoulSeek? I really don't know. What else is out there?

SoulSeek is what I use. Works great, no spyware, and I can find almost any song I can think of on there!

Yeah, I use soulseek..never had too many problems with it.  There is also an (occasionally populated) Shroomery room there.

Soulseek is good, but people there can be picky and unsharing....
DC++ is good, but takes a bit of time to get used to.

Bittorrent has a HUGE amount of shtuff.....not so much music tho, sadly....

And it seems like IRC hunting is probably the tip toppest of them all.

No real spyware issues on any of those that i've found.

I love soulseek.

My (imaginary  )music collection is over 30 gigs now, most of it due to soulseek.

SOULSEEK for sure. I've been using this program for a good year now. Right now I'm currently sharing about 32,000 quality songs. If anybody needs some good underground hip-hop, I got plenty of it. My username is Krazyk 2.0

Ok, so I downloaded SoulSeek and I'm trying to use it. It seems ok. It seems to be a lot slower then some other progams that I have used. It takes a little bit longer to come up with search results.

But I'm still learning....so hey...whateva.

The search on SLSK is really really lame. That is definitely the #1 thing on SLSK that needs improving. What you need to do is began to get a good amount of 'list' users. You can always right click a user & select 'add to your list'. So if you like what a user is sharing, then add them to your list & you will always have that list telling you if they are connected or not. To find some good users, do some searchs of what you like & just browse files on all of the results. Adding and/or downloading what you like. Another good ways is to go into the chats that interest you & talk with people or just browse anybody & everybody's files for stuff you like. Oh yeah if you are looking for high quality group ripped albums (these are the best & always high quality), a good trick for the search is type in 00 [your artist name or album here] sfv Hope this helps

Remember to join the Shroomery channel on soulseek. Go to "creat channel" and type Shroomery if you don't see it in the list.

It seems to be tricky finding users that have good lists. alot of them seem foreign.

BitTorrent is for sure the best, but it's a bit different than other kinds of filesharing clients.

I've had a good deal of success with LimeWire recently, as well.

I find eMule useful for finding full albums.

The above is an extract from my fictional novel, "The random postings of Edame".

In the beginning was the word. And man could not handle the word, and the hearing of the word, and he asked God to take away his ears so that he might live in peace without having to hear words which might upset his equinamity or corrupt the unblemished purity of his conscience.

And God, hearing this desperate plea from His creation, wrinkled His mighty brow for a moment and then leaned down toward man, beckoning that he should come close so as to hear all that was about to be revealed to him.

"Fuck you," He whispered, and frowned upon the pathetic supplicant before retreating to His heavens.

Anyone have crashing issues w/soulseek?

Other than that, it's the stuff for finding albums. I hear what Randolph said about people being unsharing, though. Don't see why, if someone else is sharing, they're more than welcome to dl from me.

Soulseek is teh r0xx0rz
