My Compost

I have a question. If I were to burrow a hole in my compost and then take a fully colonized cake and crumble it in the hole and then cover it back up what would happen? Has anyone ever tried this? And do you think that the mycelium would be able to fend off all the bacteria in the compost?

Darlene: "Oh come now, I don't look anything like James Brown."
Ted: "Hey kids, who does your mom look like in the morning?"
Kids... in unison: "James Brown!"
Darlene, "All right, thats enough... It's poison spaghetti for dinner tonight."

It would grow some shrooms. But chances are bugs or flies would eat them if your talking of an outdoor compost pile.

No this isn't an outdoor compost pile. It's one of the large cylindrical plastic ones with a lid on top and you just take off the lid and toss stuff in. Then there is a sliding door at the very bottom which you can open to allow nutrient rich soil to come out of.

You could get some very nice, large shrooms growing out of the top of the compost =) .... give it a go and let us know. The only problem i could see is it might not get enough light.

Bugs eat them? Do bugs like to trip too? Crazy man, crazy
I think its dumb when people say video games effect kids negatively. I mean, if Pac-Man effected us, we'd all hang out in dark rooms, muching pills, and listening to repetitive music.

A good compost reaches temperatures slightly above 40 degrees C or 104 degrees F these temperatures are deadly for mycellum. If your compost has already completed this high temperature stage and cooled off, the compost is done. You should probibly sterilize it before you use it.
