outdoor grow coming up got a few questions

first of all i tried to post this in the outdoor cultivation archive but it wouldn't let me live in?,when should i expect mypost there so any ways i am going to be using moes out door growing tek i live around the toronto area and the climate zone is 44n i would like to know if anyone has used this tek around my area and been successful?, when can this be started in the area i last harvest? would grain substrate be good? and i have 2 different strains right now cambodian and thiland pink buffalo how would thoes strains react to the colder climates of 44n? will this survive the winter? any other info would be great and ill let you all no how it works out

another thing it says i have to have temps of 65-100 for atleast a few weeks in the summer dose that mean it has to be atleast 65 degrees when i start

that is correct the highs during the day need to be 68 or higher the night temps dosent matter

you want to use strait poo, pasturize it ,and make the bed as big as you want but go 6 inchs deep fill with poo and put the spawn in mix it up then put a caseing on it ,not soil you will get biger and more if you use a 60/40 casing thats verm and coco coir?cover with a tarp or trash bags to hold moisture, after a few days take it off this will boost the mycel!!!

so are you saying not to use straw or soil to just fill the hole with manure and put the caseings in

if that is what your saying any special place i should put the caseings or just under the manure anywhere will do

I am getting ready to do the same thing, only in southern IL, so its a little warmer. Anyway, ive researched it quite heavily and found this to be the most talked about best way to go:

Dig a hole 6-10 inches deep
mix some straw/manure together
mix colonized cake crumblings in w/ the straw/manure or layer them
(do this the whole way from the bottom of the hole to the top)
then cover with a thin 1-2 inch layer of straw/potting soil
keep it watered half-assed good (if it doesn;t rain that is)

that's all, i just inoculated 4 (wbS) jars about 3-4 days ago, so when they get done colonizing ill be putting them outside. hope that helped

how many jars are needed to do this properlly would using 4 or 5 half pint jars of gain be enough to get a good fruit, how much is the expected harvest?

Im using 4 qt. jars, but planning on having a pretty big patch. 4 half pints would work just dont make a big patch.

Im not sure on the harvest size all depends on conditions, nutrients, and substrate material.

i have a question about substituting the hay with grass cuttings if i dry the grass out first then soak the grass can i use it instead of the hay?

Dont use straw, hay or grass. Just use poop and spawn.

why not use straw hay or grass whats the disagevantage to using them and whats the advantages of using just manure if you dont mind filling me in

There is nothing wrong with using straw with your dung - in fact it can be beneficial. Hay or grass is not a good idea though.

in my opinon your more prone to contaminites using straw, i use strait poo  :thumbup:

sludge i wanted to no i live in the toronto area what would be my expected harvest each flush if you cant tell me can you tell me what you harvested so i can get a rough idea, is it more than indoor casings?

whats the temp there? it needs to get atleast 68 during the day the night temps dont matter <well the first flush will usally be smaller then the second,see i use strait poo and i use cakes as a spawn i put them in a food processer then mix them in with my poo real good ,then i put a layer of 50/50 verm and coco coir,then i put a tarp over it for about 3 to 5 days to give it a jump start, then i remove it ,make sure it in the shade,and in my opinon you get better yeilds in a indoor casing then outdoor that being you can give them better growing conditions then outside,but that being said i cant give you a real answer on a outdoor yeild because it verys but i know it has good potental,and i think spring is the best time to do a outdoor crop because of the rain and nice daytime temp and the drop in temps at night

the temps here get into the high 70s low 80s and if you cant give me harvest estimate do you no about how many flushes i would get if i started my bed about halfway threw may

till the nutes are all gone meaning possably till fall ,if you keep it watered thru summer ,and it also depend on how much sustrate you are useing and how big your bed is,you should get more then 3 flushes thou :thumbup:
