I recommend reading other interviews to see how the format works but in general just copy and paste the text into a new post and submit it. It looks nicer too if you bold my questions and unbold your answers. Check out the Roadkill interview: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...5&fpart=all

Neuro: No, not Neo...Neuro, the exclusive interview 2005
Enter: Get in, Neuro. You've been down that road before. You know how it ends. But this plane....it's going to be airborne....and ummmmm....its not the same as driving.....
Neuro: Can I fly it? I always wanted to take flying lessons but never have. I promise I won't crash it or this interview.
Enter: How are you, friend?
Neuro: I'm decent.
Enter: We like to start these interviews with some background, however specific you'd like to be. Who are you, how old are you, where are you, what's your education/professional background like, and what are you all about? Tell us about yourself.
Neuro: I am neuro. Not nero, nuero, or neo. I live on the east coast. I am going to school to be an MD. I have interests in botany, mycology, brain/cognitive science and psychology, philosophy, religion and God (I'm not religious), astronomy and cosmology, chemistry, and all things science or interesting.
I don't have much time to watch TV, but when I do, I normally watch "Discovery: Science Channel" but I also watch The Simpsons and Family Guy. I've just recently started watching the show on Fox called "House" - friend of mine watched it one evening and told me I should watch it, he says the doctor on the show reminds him of me and predicts I will act just like Dr. House on the show. He might be right.
I have played the piano since I was six years old and play a few other instruments. I like all types of music, especially Jazz, Classical, Alternative Rock, Jam Bands but I dislike Rap and Country. I snowboard in the winter, and I go bowling and play pool year round. I don't smoke cigarettes nor do I drink all that often. I try to make a garden of vegetables and herbs every summer and spend clear winter, spring, and summer nights star gazing.
I'm a cat person.
Enter: Your posts seem to have a nice scientific inclination. Can you tell us a bit about your scientific endeavors? What are your main interests? What about them do you enjoy?
Neuro: I'm interested in human cognition, memory formation, and the relationship between the mind and brain. I've done research regarding human language processing and memory formation given paired word lists. I love chemistry and especially phytochemistry. I've isolated most of the typical alkaloids written or asked about on this board, and I'm in the process of working on Kratom using various solvents and techniques to obtain purer alkaloid isolates than what's currently available by most vendor sources.
Enter: What is the first noteworthy chemical you ever toyed with as an adult and what did you end up doing with it? (Note to self: this is a good time to help the interviewer out by indulging in a story).
Neuro: I don't like the word "toyed," or phrase "toyed with." I have experimented or explored many things, but the first note-worthy chemical was Psilocybin, as I'm sure it was for most. I've found that my experiences with most psychedelics have given me a better control of mind over matter. I'm often reminded of Milton's "Paradise Lost" in which he writes: "The mind is its own place, and in itself Can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven." When in my normal life I enter stressful, scary, rough, or any other situation that may tend to be overwhelming I have become good at talking to myself during that stressful time and kind of "talking myself down" as I have many times through rough psychedelic experiences. I have no one story that I wish to share, but I'd have to say that I've had many enjoyable experiences with my (now ex) girlfriend as the trip sitter taking me out to such events as the philharmonic which tend to be very powerful sensory and emotional experiences. Otherwise I'm very content with flowing with the chemical and talking at length to, most usually, her or any other person I'm with, exploring my stream of consciousness.
Enter: Do you have an interest in the field of psychedelics? If so, in what way? What do they do for you?
Neuro: I most obviously do. I'm interested in their use in elucidating the relationship between the mind and the brain, and their possible uses in the expansion, enrichment and pleasure of human life. I think that as the future approaches, we will have to exercise our minds as much as our bodies and psychedelics are one very viable method of doing so. I think they are useful as therapy adjuncts and derivatives as models for certain aspects of mental disorders. LSD was once given to medical students so they could experience and empathize with mentally ill patients. I look for a day when we can return to such a practice. I coincidently chose the nick neuro long before I ever decided what I wanted to do as a doctor. I've wanted to be a doctor since I was first asked the quesiton of "what do you want to be when you grow up." Exploring psychedelics along with my interest in psychology as pushed me into the direction of medical neuro-science, I hope to do surgery and be involved in neuro-psychopharmacological research research.
Enter: Your favorite food is....
Neuro: Meatless lasagna
Enter: The last time you were a passenger on a train was....
Neuro: Few months ago, I went to the Natural History Museum in NYC, I think I met Suffer after I left the museum.
Enter: Let's talk plants. Most herbalists will tell you that herbs are usually ingested by making a tea from them. This, of course, is a simple water-based extraction of plant mateial. What are a few methods of extracting plant material that you're familiar with?
Neuro: I've found that most herbalists are crack pots or people that don't live in reality. Most common ways of ingesting herbs are indeed tea infusions, or eating raw material. Other methods of plant material extraction involve simple alcohol extractions, steam distillation and soxhlet extraction.
Enter: Ever try Salvia Divinorum? What happened on your most noteworthy venture?
Neuro: I've tried it more times than I can count and I still have yet to enjoy any one experience. I find the somatic experience of the drug ot be unpleasant. My skin tingles, I sweat, and my equilibrium becomes discombobulated, my limbs feel contorted and I feel like I am occupying the same space at the same time with the object I am currently touching, seated on, or lying on. One experience that sticks in my mind is using it with a friend where I smoked an extract I made and was immediately confused about my state. I for some reason thought I was at my physicians office and I tried to get up and go to the window which I thought was the receptionist window to check in. When I realized my confused thought, as my observations still seemed to be intact, I began to laugh hysterically which continued until the drug wore off. I don't find Salvia useful at all and it is at most a novelty in my opinion. I think it may have great impact in the study of the opioid receptor system and brain wiring and relation to receptors, but as a visionary tool I find it to be lacking. Not to say it isn't visionary, it's just not useful as such.
Enter: Have your pizza delivered to the door or go pick it up in person?
Neuro: I've done both, I have no preference, but I'm often annoyed with having to listen for the doorbell or door knock. I suppose I'd prefer to go pick it up.
Enter: Can you tell us anything about your laboratory setup or labware? Gotta pic?
Neuro: I don't have a lab though I wish I did. My laboratory setup consists of a laboratory in a large box taken out cleaned and assembled as needed.

This is just one small sample of all the lab equipment I have, I haven't posted that many pictures of the things I own for some reason or another. I wish I had more time to use it regularly. This is a picture from a distillation I did in the preparation of absinthe.
Anyone who has seen my posts and will read them in the future will inevitable see my collection of labware and its various uses.
Enter: What is the highest anxiety situation you've ever been in?
Neuro: I'm a volunteer EMT. I've seen many pretty bad situations, the worst ones usually involve people I know or people my own age. Mostly that equates to car accidents involving fatalities or eventual fatalities from injuries. Working quickly to remove people from the twisted wreck and assessing damages and then saying to myself "okay what next," is usually always the most anxiety causing phenomenon. The problem is the anxiety normally comes later not during the time the situation is occuring because everything moves fast including me.
Enter: Tell us one thing that consistently makes you smile.
Neuro: There's two: First is my nephew - he's three years old and very bright, second is Theresa.
Enter: lsd or fungi?
Neuro: Fungi
Enter: Are you a vegetarian?
Neuro: No
Enter: If you had the opportunity to tell the world population one thing to get it moving in the right direction, what would you tell 'em/us?
Neuro: A teaspoon of dirt per day is good for you.
Enter: Any words of wisdom for aspiring chemists out there?
Neuro: Chemistry is all about the basics. If you've learned the basics you can predict many higher level phenomenon in chemistry, work out unseen reactions, or predict solubilities/products of reactions, or other many asked questions on this board. Learn the basics, and understand them. Don't memorize anything but actually learn the reasoning.

No problem. This was kinda fun, though I still couldn't imagine why anyone would care enough to know that kinda stuff about me, But non the less i guess it's saved for posterity incase i suddenly snap out of existence.
I hope this answers some burning questions.

Good interview .

Got a question about a substance? Erowid might already have your answer! Have questions about the mushroom experience? The Tripper's FAQ may have your answer or someone else might have had your question before. I know up on the top you are seeing great sights, but down at the bottom we, too, should have rights.
