upload different clips with iriver but cant open them

First I uploaded from my video camera to mac, then I uploaded from the mac onto my iriver. I don't have a firewire on my computer, so I uploaded on my friends computer which is a mac. Right now, i have all files on my computer (XP). However now what I have on my computer is many different files whose names are like clip 1 to clip 27 and their file type is FILE. I was edit them to make a movie. When I filmed originally it was on 27 different part. Now I don<t know which software to use to view them, or edit, to make one big movie at the end. If anyone could help.

huh?
what iriver do you have? what is the relevence of it?

what exactly are you trying to do again?

have you tried renaming the files to .avi or .mpg?

I tried to rename them but it didn't work out. I used the iriver to transfer the files from the computer of friend to mine, since he has a firewire and I don't. I uploaded the files from the camera to the mac, and then I used the iriver to transfer them to my pc. However I can't open them with any programme. I can't edit them or play them. They are all of type File. I would like to find a way to play them and edit them.

considering that the iriver acts as an external harddrive, it will not/cannot modify any files that you put on it. so, that is irrelevent.

the files are either corrupted or some weird file type that requires a special application to open them.

have you tried changing the extension?
