Executive Order.

The US Supreme Court just refused to reinsert Terri Schiavo's food and water tube and hear here parent's case.

The only option now left is executive action. The courts are responsible for interpreting the law, but the governor and the president are responsible for enforcing the law. As Chief law enforcement officers, Either Governor Bush or President Bush could chose not to enforce the law as interpreted by the courts, and have the tube reinserted by executive order. The courts would be impotent to intervene. This would be completely constitutional.

Let's see if either one of these guys has the balls to do it.

I'm not sick of it, but I do find it very disgusting the amount of energy that goes into keeping the remains of a brain dead woman alive when I can look out the window and see starving children living on the street. We have some seriously screwed up priorities in life... absolutely sickening.

I think the only real issue here, the one thing that folks
don't seem to openly discuss, is the fact that they aren't
just letting her die...they are going to starve her to death
to do it.

I think if you could push a button and make it a quick process,
we wouldn't even be here today discussing this.

No, we would still be discussing this......remember the people stirring up all of this this are also against euthanasia...the pro-lifers would just be using some other bullshit to "justify" their actions.

On this we agree. ProLifers want her to live. Some deaths are more painful than others however, and the ProDeathers have chosen a long drawn out and gruesome way for her to go.

Someone could just as easily use the term AntiChoicer for your point of view. Instead of relying on emotional pandering it may be better to rely on rational arguments.

Pro-Choice is a misnomer in this case. I am both Pro-Choice and Pro-Life.

Why do those who favor killing people have to hide behind cute little Euphemisms? Why don't they just call themselves Pro-abortion, or Pro-Death Penalty, or Pro-Euthanasia?

Or in this case Pro-Starvation of Disabled People!

The one thing all these positions have in common is that they advocate death over life, hence Pro-Death.

Don't be afraid of a name. If you believe that death is better than life then embrace your belief. You are Pro-Death.

I doubt Michael Shiavo would have chosen this route, but thanks to the Christian fundamentalists, they can't painlessly euthanize this vegetative woman, so the only other route is withdrawing treatment and aid.

She'll probably die within the next 4 or 5 days anyway, it's only a matter of time now. I hope her passing is swift and quick, but due to the fact that the doctors can't medically end her life, I know it's not going to be.

Anyone who eats a steak for dinner is Pro-Death. Hell, anyone who lives is Pro-Death. Dying a part of life, if organisms didn't die to sustain you, you wouldn't be alive. You kill countless organisms every second, even if you can't see them. We may not eat humans, but they're organisms just like everything else, and death is an inevitable part of life.

Why don't the people against abortions and euthanasia stop hiding behind this "Pro-Life" bullshit and just say they're Anti-Choice? Because people who support the choice of abortions do not, for the most part, support getting abortions at all. Hell, I'm for the legalization of all drugs, but I don't support anyone snorting lines of meth. You simply must allow the choice of an action, even if you don't support that action morally, and that is why people who are Pro-Choice may morally be against abortions, but they realize it is a woman's body and she must choose her own path without others inflicting their morals on her.

This mention of microbes and beef cattle is really irrelevant to the issue at hand. In the hierarchy of being a human person has more worth than a cow, a potato, or a flu virus.

It is completely logical to for a Pro-Life person to advocate that people eat lower life forms and defend themselves by destroying lower life forms which are trying to kill them.

I am profoundly pro-life. "Save the baby seals and the baby humans." But because a human life is more valuable than the seal's, a pro-life person is justified in taking the life of the seal to save his own. Killing a cow for food is still pro-life provided that the death of the cow leads to the prolonged life of the man, who's life is more valuable within the hierarchy of life.

As a freedom loving pro-life person, I am also profoundly pro-choice. By that I mean Pro-Choice for the individual. If someone chooses to kill himself then that is his option, but when somebody chooses to kill someone else, his freedom to kill falls lower in the hierarchy of freedom than his victim's right to live. The Choice of the person being killed has more value than the choice of the person who is attempting to kill.

Pretty simple stuff really.


The Terri Schiavo case can not be said to be about choice. There is nothing written, nor any other legal proof that she chose to die by dehydration. We only have the word of her husband who wants her dead. Terri's choice at this point is vague at best. Since the choice cannot be known, this comes down to a question about which is better, life in her severely disabled condition, or death.

Many of you seem to think death is the better option. You are Pro-Death.
Many of us think life is the better option. We are Pro-life.

Both sides have chosen, so both sides are Pro-choice. Terri's choice cannot be known because she can't communicate.

This makes me Pro-Choice and Pro-Life, and it makes you Pro-Choice and Pro-Death. You have chosen poorly.
