More Bush double-speak on following orders
    #1400968 - 03/22/03 04:59 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

If any Iraqi soldiers try to use the line, "Hey, we were just following orders..." well that is no excuse! You will be punished for following orders.

Now if an American soldier says, "Hey, I cannot in good conscious follow these orders..." well, that is considered treasonous or desertion and may be rewarded by a death penalty.

Which is it Bush? Are piss-ant foot soldiers allowed to think for themselves or not? You CANNOT logically have it both ways though you always try to.

It's be neat to see somebody stand up and ask something like that at one of his geh press conferences.

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

Source for what? Listen to Bush's speech of a few days ago on how the common Iraqi soldier "should" respond then read the UCMJ (Uniform Cod of Military Justice).

All American troops volunteered.

Most of the Iraqi soldiers are conscripts.

So that should only go further to prove Swami's point, since Americans volunteered, they should be able to make the judgement whether to follow a questionable order or not, conscripts have to follow orders or else...

So do those who volunteered.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. I wish the fighters would make the juudgement calls for themselves (and I even considered JOINING the service, just to make sure that commandos arent shooting children) But man, you will die if you disobey an order! in battle if you head towards the back of a fight rather than the front, your commander will shoot you... Let alone disobeying orders...

I cant really prove it... just the way I cant technically prove we're even IN war right now (all I see is images on TV) But commanders have been saying that phrase for some 70ish years? "anyone heading towards the rear of a firefight, I will shoot you myself...." No one wants their whole squad killed because one guy was being a pussy : P

Oh yeah, this war is totally fake. It's not really happening.

Thinking like that is totally dumb.

He definitely isn't the first.

BTW I'm not saying I agree with TackleBerry.

That does not further Swami's point. American troops volunerily sighned a contract saying that they will follow the orders of the president of the United States. They sighned whay there rights to think for themselves exept in the case of unlawful orders which would be something along the lines of killing civillians or executing POW's.

Soldiers forced to fight could not be moraly heald to follow those orders.

The same rules applied to draftees and volunteers in Vietnam. Nothing has changed. These same rules apply in all military nations. If propaganda, peer pressure and nationalism do not get our young boys to defend the wealthy elite, then the barrel of a gun or the stockade are quite effective.
