Defining "pins" and "primordia"

i have read some people say that the word "pins" is simply short for "primordia," though i would think then they would be called "prims." it also seems that pretty much everyone on here calls the start of mushroom formation "pinning."
but from watching so many mushrooms of my own grow, i would think that pinning comes before primordia, when the mycelium begins to start spiking up into little points. those look more like pinheads to me. once the reddish-brown caps form, i consider that primordia.
if anyone has a scientific definition of primordia, i'd like to know what it is. otherwise i'd just be curious to hear what y'all think.

A simple search would have yeilded these results: http://www.google.com/custom?q=primordia...h=shroomery.org
And the second link on that page would have given you all your answers: http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23405

alright, so i suppose what i consider pins are hyphal knots. and pins = primordia.
thing is, people have said the word pins is short for primordia, and i don't know that i buy that. other people say it's simply short for pinheads, which makes more sense, but i think the hyphal knots look more like pins. that's why i've always been skeptical when people equated the two words.
either way, hyphal knots is now a new term in my myco-vocab.

Hyphial knots, are primordia and show up first. Those then elongate and darken and form pins. Pins is not short for primordia, and whoever said it was, was incorrect.

Primordia: The first recognizable but undifferentiated mass of hyphae that develops into a mushroom fruitbody. Synonymous with "pinhead". Taken from TMC
