PESTS of Indoor Gardens!!!

Wow, my garden is hit with these damn critters. Ouch a bunch of my well rooted plants have died, I know because I pulled them out after they died and had a great root structure.

I ordered some venus fly traps, I wish the would get here sooner. I guess the worst is done, I lost 5 plants out of 20 so far. I have tried smoking cigs in my humidity tent... it helps if you blow the smoke directly on the plant, etc. But the creature has laid tons of eggs all over the plants and the young seem to eat the plant then mature to little flys. God, hopefully those venus fly trap do the trick. I am going to resort to pestisides tommorrow, this is painful.

Neem oil works great on my garden, apparently it can stop around 500 different types of bug's naturaly.

and if you are really rushed take a bunch of your cig buts (or full ones if you can) soak in water ans spray the buggies.

nicotine kills all. personally i would try neem first if ya can.

Smoke is detrimental to plants health, it clogs the stomata in the leaves making photosynthesis less than ideal. :smile:

Ah thanks for the information, I tried used cig butts in some hot water then took out the water into a sprayer but it didn't seem todo anything. I might have to try this neem oil.

Various soap mixtures kill tons of eggs/larvae(haven't been able to find Neem oil locally)
Any pest, there is a way to destroy it.
Research, observe , and put into force genocidal measures.
They are the ENEMY!

I took about 15 or 20 cig butts and took out the tobacco and boiled it in water. I then filtered the water into a sprayer and hit my plants up.... the bugs seemed to hate it.

The real problem I has is the little eggs that hatch into those little damn critters that munch on me damn plants! I think they also must infect the plant since the leaves will either fall off, or just grow really small and never get big? Really strange, but they have little teeth.

how big are these bugs?

i dont know much about nicotine, but boiling may be bad...someone else will know. ive always jsut let sit in luke warm water (warm tap water) for a couple hours tehn spray.

These bugs are about 3 millimeters big, and green in color. If I am not mistaken, the bugs don't like the tobacco and boiling it only pulled out the active ingredients and made the water all brown. It worked super well so far, the bugs when a running.

nicotine can carry disease to some plants, tomatos in particular, on that note
the leaves of tomatos can be 'juiced' and made into a pesticide

some ol' timer gardeners say that smoking in your garden can transfer the mosaic virus to your tomatos, so i'm sure that making a brew from cigs would transfer it even faster. don't think it hurts anything except tomatos, but i'm not sure.

and venus fly traps aren't going to do anything,so sorry,but they can be a fun pet. it would take to long, sound like you have aphids, they work fast, better to spray them with soapy water, or use a insecticidal soap.

make sure to only use distilled water, or rain water on the traps, and every night you should put a cup or humidity tent over them, tap water will kill them eventually,and depending on how much junk is in the water the quicker they die. gotta watch that.

and contrary to popular belief, do not feed them hamburger, feed them powdered milk, in none jungle environments this is the best way to keep them alive, that and distilled h20.

and might i suggest a drop or two of lemon joy in your spray bottle will kill them real quick, and check out lemon joy, it's really mild and no phosphates, and the lemon help repel the bugs, just don't spray in the full afternoon sun.

I believe that is actually the whole Nightshade family of crops that can be infected with mosaic. :smile:

i believe it, sounds like it could fuck up many things but i know of tomato's only. :shrug:

I have more reading todo, great. Seems like none of my plants are in the solanaceae family, the nightshade family.

Seems to me like they're being sucked to death, ala insectoid vampires.
If ya can kill the live ones off with the nicotine spray, then after that wash the leaves with a soap mixture to get rid of the eggs (assuming that's where the eggs are)
Repeat as necessary.

Wanna kill em and help the plants at the same time? Raise Co2 levels for 1 hour to 10,000 parts per million 1 time a week for a few weeks. It suffocates the little fucks and helps the plants.
