Slow tropicalis colonisation
    #394049 - 09/14/01 05:05 AM (23 years, 6 months ago)

I innoculated some rye filled jars with tropicalis spores about 2 weeks ago. Only one jar has shown any mycellium growth, and only a little wispy greyish growth at that. Is this unusual or not. Does anyone have any idea which growth parramaters are the most importand. For instance : is rye ok as collonising substrate; how "wet" should it be and how warm? I've read that tropicalis enjoys slightly cooler conditions. Is it godd to shakes the jar up when growth is noticed to speed up colonising, or is the mycellium too sensitive? Any suggestions and good advice is appreciated. Oh dont give me a hard time about the spelling, english is not my native tongue

Colonisation temperature should be around 25?C.
You can shake the substrate, the mycelium will recover(if it?s not contaminated)
